Coa

One of the founding tribes of The City of Olympia.
An altruistic tribe of visionaries and explorers. They were a migratory tribe and were the first to rediscover centuries-old Arks, which eventually led to their discovery of the Olympian Ark. This inspired them to found a grand alliance with the regional tribes and rebuild civilization.
Led by charismatic and practical Jasper Sheen, the Coa were generally an approachable and friendly lot, with tribal ideals of community and cooperation.
The Coa did not practice or focus on one type of magic. Instead, they took what aspects they liked from various traditions or even inspirations from recovered comic books and videos and formed their magic craft that way. Mages, shamans, and chi adepts were equally common within the tribe.

Structure

The Coa valued cooperation, mediation, and harmony within the tribe. Leadership was a democratically elected council with one member typically serving as the main spokesperson and head of the council. The head councilor was allowed to suggest candidates to serve in the council but was not allowed to appoint them. However, they were allowed to change the name of the council to something of interest or importance to them. The entire tribe was expected to vote. Councilor elections were held every five years, and councilors could serve for three election terms maximum. Outside of their administrative responsibilities, councilors were expected to continue their lives and tribal roles in the times between councilor meetings. Everyone was equal in Coa society.

Culture

The Coa culture was shaped by a desire for harmony and cooperation. After the discovery of the first Ark they found, they adopted a nostalgia for a world they never knew, treasuring the pop culture relics and history books they found in the bunkers. They quoted old videos of cartoons, played old board games, and sang old forgotten songs.
Coa culture was migratory, especially after the discovery of the Arks. Initially, they would travel southward in winter months and return to semi-permanent villages in summer months. After discovering the Arks, however, they were almost constantly on the move scouring the land for more bunkers in pursuit of a world lost in time.

Assets

The greatest assets the Coa had were the artifacts they found in the various bunkers they explored. While LOSTech was not discovered until the Olympian Ark was found, the knowledge of metahumanity’s lost culture was invaluable to restarting the cities of old and the population boom following the establishment of Olympia.

History

The drive to explore has been a part of humanity since the dawn of its existence. The desire to know more about the world and see all it has to offer spurs many forward, even in times of uncertainty. This drive, this irresistible call to adventure would come to define the Coa as a tribe.
During the fall, a large bunker had been created and housed a significant number of people in cryostasis. When automated systems in the bunker determined that the world above had stabilized, the cryo chambers deactivated and slowly the survivors emerged. Finding themselves apparently alone in a new and uncertain world, they established rules on how to work together and minimize conflict among them; the last thing anyone needed was to succumb to infighting when mutual survival was essential.
The Coa tribe formed and thrived. Generations were born and died over the centuries, and the Coa kept to their egalitarian principles. They adopted a migration pattern similar to various tribes and cultures of the ancient world. They embraced magic of all kinds and used it to fend off Raiders and monsters in the Wilds.
A dramatic change in the Coa emerged when a bunker, different from the one they had emerged from all those years ago, was found. It was like a time capsule of ancient passions and popular culture, of fandoms and histories previously lost to time. Filled with wonder at their discovery, they set out to find more bunkers across the land, changing their migration patterns to scout the land as a group to find more lost treasures. The things they found captured their imagination. Old videos of cartoons and movies, books and comics, and miscellaneous paraphernalia were collected and kept safe in their caravans.
A time came when the Coa stumbled upon the greatest find of all. This Ark held LOSTech machines capable of rebuilding cities and the essentials of a grand civilization for metahumanity. It was a gift from the Ancients to their descendants, a hope that life would persist after they were gone. Led by the head councilor, Jasper Sheen, the Coa decided on a new goal: the unification of the local tribes in the area into a grand alliance. Only together could metahumanity restore the greatness it once had.
The process of recruiting the tribes was difficult, however. While tribes like the Krogs, the Emory, and the Pachtres gladly joined, other tribes like the Sharks and the Inmans were initially hostile. But the Coa were persistent and soon all of the largest tribes in the region were allied. The great LOSTech machine was activated and Olympia was built and founded. The tribes dissolved over the years as they took residence in the new city, but monuments and museums were built to remember their histories and cultural identities. Olympia of modern day has persisted for over 300 years, all thanks to the curiosity and dreams of the allied tribes.
