Blockbreaker Video is a retail store that specializes in selling and renting media. It primarily deals in being a place where people can rent movies, shows, and video games to take home to watch and enjoy in their own homes. There’s a few titles available for purchace as well. A small selection of collectable items, like posters, are also available for purchase. There is a small section of the store dedicated to movie snacks customers can buy to enhance their home movie experience. Popcorn, gummi candies, pop, chips, even a small selection of alcoholic beverages(beer, wine, and of course wine coolers) are available. The store also functions as the best place to acquire memorabilia related to it’s famous owner, just in case you really want an autographed Horse Girl poster to decorate your house.
It’s a large, bright, well stocked space, shelves filled with movies lining the space with plenty of room for people to move through the space. It’s decorated with movie posters, cardboard cutouts, the odd bit of memorabilia in decorative cases. It’s a warm welcoming space for movie buffs and for those who are just looking for something interesting to watch on their day off work.
Towards the back of the store, near the counter, there is a doorway covered with a heavy beaded curtain that leads to a separate room. This is where the “adult entertainment” section of the store is located. A small, handwritten sign hangs near the door reading, “18 and over ONLY” and this policy is strictly enforced by all employees of the store. Another door, on the other side of the counter is marked “Employees Only” which leads to things like the employee restroom, the break room, and a couple of small offices, one of which is reserved for the exclusive use of the owner.

Purpose / Function

The store is located in one of the purpose built retail sections of Metropolis. There have been other stores there in the past, but Blockbreaker Video has been housed there for nearly thirty years, since being opened by the current owner’s grandfather.

Alterations

The building is pretty much the same as it’s always been, being intended as a retail space all along.

Architecture

The storefront looks like most other buildings in the area. The front windows hold displays of movies which are changed out to advertise new releases or promotions or special events that might be going on. There is a large marquee sign on the exterior of the building with the store’s name.

Defenses

Security shutters that will lock down if needed along with a good healthy business like relationship with the local heroes who have tasked themselves with patrolling the area.

Tourism

People like movies and Blockbreaker Video is the best place to find what you’re looking for. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very good at matching customers to the perfect movie. Of course, there are several people who find their way to the store hoping to catch a glimpse of its famous owner, since she’s known to spend some time there, occasionally hosting meet and greet events for her fans.
