Engines of Creation

The Engines of Creation are massive autonomous vehicles with immense destructive potential. Their design varies to fit the terrain, as in flying Engines will patrol mountainous regions with land engines carving chasms into open fields.

For millennia the Engines were dormant appearing as artificial mountains or islands in the landscape. It was not until after The Upheaval that the machines began to wreak havoc on civilization and on engines from a different region.

One constant among the different Engines is the use of the forbidden Soul-Steam technology. Specifically as its central power source and as its means of control. The souls are very volatile and are easily provoked by most things beyond machines originating from the same region.

Engine Types

Their are 7 major types depending on environment with further variations depending on region.

Types by Environment

• The Lightbearer - This engine is rarely seen but when it is large swaths of land is destroyed in an instant. They are fast, silent and capable of leveling mountains. This was the first Engine of Creation recorded with this behavior noted before the Upheaval.
• The Celestial - Guardians of the skies, immense air fortresses which hold smaller aircraft inside of them
• The Beastkeeper - Keepers of open plains and forests, the largest of the seven boasting gargantuan hull with massive treads.
• The Earthlayer - Delvers beneath the crust, known for sending smaller sacrificial drones to destroy things on the surface from below. They are especially concentrated in regions of high volcanic activity.
• The Firmament - Generally keeps themselves close to the coast and are capable of deploying smaller ships and short range aircraft. Their cannons are known to have the longest range of the Engines.
• The Leviathan - Deep below the blue waters of the oceans, these are the smallest of the five and use this to their advantage as no one notices that they are there until they join them at the bottom of the ocean.
• The Sleeper - This engine is the least understood and the rarest seen what is known about them is that they seem to be impenetrable and do not move, the ones that have been discovered have either been found deep underground or below the ocean.
