The Binder's Sanctum

The Binder's Sanctum is a large independant building complex within the Athis Val city of Uplinas. The Binder's Sanctum is a curious institute, part monastery, part library, and part research complex. The institute is dedicated to the collection and dissemination of knowledge, following the tenets of Oghma, the Binder and god of knowledge who is devoutly worshipped by most of the institute's staff. Other gods that have some semblance to the domain of knowledge or a connection the main patron Oghma, like Mystra, Deneir and Milil are also represented within the complex. The complex is run by the Order of the Blank Scroll, who take on all tasks within the complex, from the serving out of food and protection of the complex to the copying and catalogueing of tomes.   The complex houses several shrines, a monastery, a scriptorium, and a small school that teaches letters to any who wish to learn but cannot afford the education. The institute is most known, however, for housing the largest library in Ussath Riel, drawing in scholars from all over the continent. Those who seek out the library for study are required to make a donation of either gold to aid the work of the Binder's Sanctum, or (preferably) a gift of knowledge in the form of tomes or scrolls. The higher the perceived value or importance of these donations, the longer the seeker is allowed access to the great library. All who are allowed access, however, are supported by an assigned member of the Order of the Blank Scroll, who is there to both make sure the library's precious texts are safeguarded and to aid the seekers in their research. Due to Binder's Sanctum's coöperation with, and support of the Zlans bardic college, and the Fraron university of magic, however, students and staff of these institutes are granted access to the great library without the requirement of a donation.
