Once a servant to the ruler of the underworld, Ohrer, she now has retired from adventuring and has become one of the standing guard for the village of Lowry. She also helps with the training of her son, Gabriel, in both combat as well as the history of his family and the world they have occupied. She is the widow to Moses, a grand adventurer who fell sacrificing himself to finish the fight against Ohrer which Lyra also fought in to redeem herself in the eyes of the gods.
