Finding the Bane of the Divine

The Bane of the Divine has always been assumed to be a rumor, but some powerful mages have carried with them the secret of finding the four keys to find the Bane. Ohrer, the diety ruling the under world has sent out his soldiers to find these keys. If he finds the key he would have the power to become the one high god and establish a new panthenon.

Plot points/Scenes

  • Flora will tell the party that the piece of the key that they will want to retrieve first will be the stone in Ultribar's cathedral to Solar which is heavily guarded by the Tribune. The party will be told that the stone that what the people of Ultribar know as The Savior's Stone is actually a piece of the key. She will urge that since this stone is out in the open the party should get this sooner rather than later
  • After arriving to Ultribar the party will find that the city is under attack by statues that have become animated. The party will quickly be attacked but will realize that there are many constructs heading to the cathedral for the stone. After entering the cathedral, they will be told by the Tribune guards to leave or they will be attacked. There will additionally be a Spectator that will float down from the ceiling after the stone is removed from the altar.
  • After the party successfully hides from the mix of gargoyles and animated armor and kills the spectator, the siege of Ultribar will stop and will be able to feel the energy of the first stone. The party after examining the stone will find that an artificer has imbued the stone with a message that can be played three times. The message will tell the party that the other three sections are in the Ancient City, the Crossroad of the Elemental Plane, and the Hoard of the Brass Dragon.
  • The Ancient City (on a DC 15 History Check) can be found in a underwater cave off the North coast of Medley. After arriving there they will find that the cave is occupied and defended by Shaugin soldiers as well as a Flesh Golem. If the party took longer than a week to get from one stone to the next there may also be a devil or demon in the cave collecting the stone when the party arrives.
  • The Brass Dragon's Lair is at the North most mountain of the pass. The party can also talk to the man name Broz in Stratum if they want to try to learn more about this lair before entering. The party will know that metallic dragons are good and if they want they could try to barter for the stone. If they offer their help, the dragon will ask that they bring him in return the head of King Krieg, who constantly sends soldiers to try to raid the lair. If the party takes more than a couple minutes at the layer, a devil/demon (depending on character level) will attack the dragon/party.
  • The Elemental Plane is accessible through many different ways. Any strong mage or patron/god of a adventurer could open a portal to the plane but that will not be the hardest part of the task. After arriving to the plane they will roll 1d4 to see which territory they will be in. All the elementals are constantly at war and fighting so getting to the Crossroads itself will not take a very high stealth roll to hide in the rubble. The crossroads is a great hall occupied by a creature that is the four elementals fused into one humanoid form constantly fluxing between them. He will have the stats of whichever elemental the DM chooses but they will take the form of that specific elemental after combat begins. When the elemental is defeated it will drop the stone and the party will be able to return to the material plane using a ruin engraved into the center of the crossroads.
  • -Upon fusing the stones the party will enter the pocket dimension of the Bane, see the parent plot for more details
