Sjolund

Sjolund is a city within the Grand Duchy of Canyndor, situated in the Tora Valley to the north of the river and south of the Redcrest Mountains. The city is the capital of its administrative region, the Surcounty of Sjolund, however, has had a long history of being the prime settlement of the region going back to the days of the Ardic migration south into Doric lands. The city was the capital of the old Kingdom of Ilkarda of the Ardic people, and the place from which Saint Lauri proslytised the Ardic people to follow The Hallowed Faith.   Sjolund is the seat of the Laspura Dynasty, whose ancestral castle lies within view of the city. Surcount Hannu of Sjolund rules the city and surcounty and is considered a good lord by most, a religious and conscientious man. The region of Sjolund and the surrounding lands are well known for their cultivation of grapes and the Sjolund Wine that they produce. The region also benefits from a well developed Wool industry and the quarrying of Marble.   Sjolund was captured by Aijian forces during the Doric-Aijian War, where much of the city was heavily damaged by deliberately set fires much of the inhabitants temporarily displaced.
