The Cobalt Order

"My fellow knights, today we will die. But grieve not! For in death we atone for the sins we committed in life. Charge now and perish! Make yourself martyrs of the Order, and live forever in memory."
— Sir Estaban di Curso to his fellow knight before the Death Charge of the Sixteen.

Structure

The Organization is led by Kharabir the Binder from his Cathedral in Arcanstille . In theory he is the supreme and infallible leader of the Cobalt Order, however, reality is different from the ideal. The Order is very much decentralized, and power mostly lie with the various heads of the many enclaves of the order. Be they local priests, abbesses, bishops, or Knights. These normally operate independently on a day to day basis. Orders from Arcanstille are often slow to reach many enclaves. Edicts that do get through are mostly obeyed though. Local leaders are appointed at least formally by the Binder himself.

Public Agenda

To destroy corruption wherever they find it. To punish the faithless and heal the broken world.

Assets

Vast land holding.   A great number of temples and churches, abbeys and cloisters.   Learned men and women.   The love of many of the common folk.

History

Originally one of the "temples" of the Ordering the Cobalt Order grew to become almost a state within the state. the power of the Cobalt Order was enhanced by its actions during the Cimson Plague, and was at that time the most influential of the Temples of the Ordering. When the Ordering began to break down at the beginning of the Age of Chaos the Cobalt Order begun to act more and more independently, until the Temple was declared heretical, and its lands in the Ordering remnant were confiscated in 1281. Since then it has played a major role in Renata, fighting undead and the cities of the Crimson Coast.

Territories

The Cobalt Order occupies many cities on the north eastern coast of the central continent. A great many enclaves that fall under its sway exist in most other countries, excepting the Ordering.

Military

The Cobalt Order has a great many knights sworn to its service. The peasants who live on Cobalt Order land receive some martial training and can be called up for up to 6 weeks in wartime. Many volunteer to serve in the occasional crusade against the Undead, or Crimson Coast.

Foreign Relations

the Cobalt Order is hostile to the Crimson Coast cities.

Agriculture & Industry

The Cobalt Order has a number of landholdings attacked to their various estates and enclaves that provide most necessary foodstuffs.
