Once an astronomer and friend to the King of Nothing, Sasha knew of the nature of the War On High, pledging to help within his means against the tyranny of Time. Resisting the relentless aggression from Nights with the use of a Lens, Sasha was a gifted eschamancer and was able to prevent manifestations of Nights by himself, owing to their paracausal nature, Eschamancy invoked no toll where it did not interact with the corporeal. After several years of friendship with Zero, the King of Nothing, Sasha became aware of a meteorite on a collision course with Earth. When plied for what would become of the impact, Zero relucatantly told him that the meteor would impact near the yellowstone volcano region, leading to catastrophic ecological destruction and the deaths of many hundreds of millions of people from the resulting climate shift and geological trauma, though ultimately the species would manage to hold on and eventually recover.

Sasha begged Zero to help, however manifesting his magic on such a level would essentially turn every living human on the planet into a radiant beacon for Nights, thus he refused, arguing that the deaths of many were better than the death of the species. Ultimately, Sasha refused to allow such destruction and ignited the most violent manifestation of Eschamancy in history, killing himself in the process, but generating a devastating explosion in the void of space, trying to push the meteor off course. The meteor's path was shifted, however it did still collide with the earth, largely harmlessly in the remote region of the tunguska river, impacting on the 30th June 1908. Zero was unable to recover Sasha's soul into Hour Glass as he had burned his essence out with the spell, a final death.
