Benneit's Brigade

Faction Description   So named by its founder, the first brother Benneit, Benneit's Brigade is a mercenary/adventurer's guild. It was created to provide structure and readily available help for anyone within the kingdom, as well as a supply of trained warriors to supplement the kingdoms army should war ever break out.   Today they are the primary force defending the Southern Wall, and they have a presence in almost every city, usually a local meeting place where mercenaries can gather and locals can post bounties or look for help.   Important NPC’s
  • General-
  • Leaders Right hand
  • Small town Corpral
Faction belief/dogma
  • Honor in combat, striking an unarmed or surrendering enemy is disgraceful.
  • Strength and readiness, having a rusted sword or being caught unawares of danger is disgraceful, always be ready and prepared for a fight.
  • Loyalty to your shield brothers and sisters, betrayal of your brothers at arms is the biggest disgrace there is.
Faction Goal
  • The Brigades leadership want to militarize and unify East Rossoran, strengthening the land and possibly extending their reach further. They also believe the new king to be weak and unqualified, and so are desiring a change in leadership though none are yet ready to openly voice revolution.
Faction strength and influence
  • The Brigade is very large, and has a great number of well trained individual warriors on hand.
  • 1 general, 11 corporals, 45 brigadiers, and 150ish arms-men.
  • The Brigade leadership has access to funds, and holds considerable sway in the 3rd largest city.
  • Often sponsor meeting houses, mead halls or local inns, which often leads to them picking up information from the inn keepers on their pay roll.
Faction weakness/ limitations
  • The vast majority of its strength comes from associated mercenaries with probationary membership who are used to fighting as individuals, with only the full brigadiers dedicated and trained for professional combat.
  • The members are scattered, and not directly beholden to following the commands of the Brigades leadership.
  • The largest concentration of their power is at their city and the Southern Wall, but pulling men from their would weaken local defenses and possibly leave Eastern Rassoran open to a Somick Invasion.
Roles/ titles within the faction
  • General- leader of the guild
  • Corporal- head of a brigade Posting
  • Brigadier- a full fledged member who has paid his dues and earned his place in the guild.
  • Arms-men- probationary members looking to join who have not yet fully joined.
How To Join
  • to become a probationary member and take Brigadier contracts, all one has to do is sign up, pay a membership fee (10 gold), and serve 4 weeks a year on the Southern Wall. However, Brigadiers have first dibs on contracts over Arms-men.
  • to become a full Brigadier, one must pay monthly dues (5 gold), and complete at least 1 contract with a full member present to observe you in battle.
  • to remain a brigadier, you are also required to train with the other brigadiers for 1 month in an annual war games event at their headquarters near the South Wall.
Other Notes

Friendly

  • The Brigade enjoys the freedom offered by the independent cities, as well as the money that can usually be depended upon there.
  • The independent cities rely heavily on the Brigade to supplement their own forces, especially when dealing with things outside the city that they can not spare the man power to deal with.

  • The Brigade as an order does not have an opinion on the  Weavers, as they are in essence a collection of individuals. However those individuals simultaneously have  no problem being hired out to hunt down Weaver members and hideouts, while also buying their products.
  • The weavers accept that they are an outlawed organization, and so usually dont take their persecution personally, and are readily available to bribe or make deals with Brigaders to ensure their losses are not quite as severe as they might otherwise be.

Tolerated

  • The Brigade tolerates the Kings Rangers, finding them annoying and self righteous but respectful of their skills. Additionally, they do not find themselves in agreement that blood over rules strength when it comes to the right to rule.
  • The Rangers find the Brigade undisciplined and often brutish, more concerned with money than doing the right thing. Think that they are unreliable and unpredictable, as well as dreading a day where they might have to call upon them to help the kings armies or worse, if the Brigade were to ever rise up against the King.

Tolerated

  • The brigade does not like the Arcane Eye, but will consult with them when needing information on a particular creature or place.
  • The Arcane Eye finds the members of the Brigade uncultured and brutish, but will help them often in exchange for the magical items and artifacts they often come across in their travels.
