Description:

The land of Tekul stands in the midst of an overgrown landscape of subtropical hardwood forests mixed with areas of savanna. Everywhere you travel in this ancient land, ancient megalithic stone structures, both small and large rise amidst the encroaching jungle, their former glory marred by the ravages of time and neglect.

There is little left of the old culture and knowledge. With a society focused on warfare, so much has been forgotten. The history of the land of Tekul is now little more than faded legends told around campfires at night. In Tekul's current state, hopes of restoring the once-great kingdom seem as distant and unattainable as reaching out and touching the stars in the night sky. The shattered remnants of a once-mighty civilization now only echo in the ruins and memories of those who survived the cataclysm. As the tribes fiercely cling to their warlike ways, the prospect of reunification and progress remains a distant dream, and the land of Tekul remains locked in a grim cycle of violence and unrest.

Residents: The primary population of this land consists of humans of Ansharri descent. Minor amounts of people of mixed Mu and Ansharri heritage live along the coastline and in the south.

Skinwalkers, a humanoid race produced by the chaos storms, possess the ability to transform into bestial humanoids. This greatly feared race lives within Tekul society, posing as humans, all the while carefully guarding their secret. They live their lives in constant fear of discovery as Skinwalkers face extreme hostility and immediate execution by fire when discovered.

Primary Population: Ansharri
Secondary Population: Chuuli
Minor Population: Mu, Veng

Government and Politics: The kingdom's central government collapsed as the events of the Great Cataclysm unfolded. When the devastation ended, all law and order ceased and survival turned into a battle of the fittest. Eventually, tribes formed and they restored a measure of security to residents. However, the scarcity of resources led to fighting between tribes which continues to this day. Locked into a constant state of warfare, the tribes have little connection to the outside world.

Economy: Trading between tribes and the outside world takes place only sporadically when there is a temporary peace and traders feel safe in this dangerous and unpredictable land. Trading between tribes rarely happens as most fear giving any advantage to their enemies. With a scarcity of resources, the crafting of weapons of war for nearly ceaseless conflicts takes priority.

Military: Tekul is a land of tremendous strife, its inhabitants now fragmented into war-like tribes, constantly embroiled in bitter and seemingly non-ending conflicts. The once learned and artistic culture now thrives on vile enmity, with tribes expending their energy violently warring against each other rather than making any attempt at rebuilding their shattered society. Violent chaos and danger reign supreme, and the people of a once civilized Tekul now live in a perpetual state of warfare. Captured prisoners from these ceaseless brutal battles face grim fates, either condemned to a life of slavery or offered as human sacrifices to appease their bloodthirsty gods. Worst yet are the dangerous incursions from the northern lands of Yxtan. Hordes of barbaric humanoids often descend into Tekul in search of plunder. These raids have decimated the northern portion of Tekul.

History: Once a mighty and prosperous kingdom, Tekul now stands as a haunting relic of its former grandeur after the catastrophic event known as the Great Cataclysm. In a just a short period of time, the kingdom's geography was drastically altered; vast portions of its once-thriving coastline were swallowed by the unforgiving sea, while relentless earthquakes crumbled once-proud cities to ruins. Rivers changed their course while great rockslides at the foot of the Nhulokk Range destroyed whole villages. The violent earth-shattering cataclysm plunged Tekul's advanced civilization and culture into a primitive state of subsistence, erasing long centuries of progress.

Today: Amidst this bleak landscape, glimmers of hope persist as whispers of ancient prophecies speak of a chosen one who will rise to reunite the tribes and lead Tekul back to prosperity. As the struggle for dominance rages on, the fate of Tekul hangs in the balance, awaiting the emergence of a visionary leader who can bridge the chasms of hatred and steer the kingdom towards a brighter future.
