Yxtan
Pronunciation: icks-TAN
Map Index: F9, F10
Location: On the coast of northeast Nhulokkarnum
Geography: Located in west central Nhulokkarnum, the land of Yxtan unfolds as a vast expanse of rolling savanna interspersed with small, lush forests clustered around watering holes and meandering streams.
Scattered across the savanna are remnants of Yxtan's storied past—great stone ruins that once marked thriving cities. The Leorr, however, regard these structures as alien, oblivious to the fact that their distant ancestors once constructed these ancient wonders.
Primary Population: None
Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: Ansharri, Chuuli, Mu, Veng in settlements along the coast
Climate: The climate, subtropical with distinct rainy and dry seasons, follows a distinct annual pattern. For 3 months each year, abundant precipitation falls provides for verdant growth of the vegetation, while the moderately hot temperatures provide a break from the rest of the year. The following month rainfall tapers off while temperatures heat up. Finally, during the hottest months of the year, rainfll is intermittent at best and the land swelters.
Wildlife: Yxtan's terrain is primarily tropical savanna, where tall grasses sway across the plains, and scattered trees provide shade and cover for a diverse array of wildlife. Massive herds of antelopes, gazelles, and wildebeests roam freely, creating a vibrant ecosystem.
Humanoids: No humans remain in Yxtan; they were decimated during the Great Cataclysm, and the few survivors succumbed in the subsequent years. In their stead, nomadic Leorr tribes, humanoid creatures with lion-like bodies, inhabit the plains. Legends weave tales of the Leorr's creation through corruption during the chaos storms that transformed humans into the Leorr. Living primitively, they construct crude huts from wood and grass, relying on stone age technology and hunting big game for sustenance. They nomadically roam the plains staying for only a short while in the temporary camps that they build.
Monsters: Travelers in Yxtan face great peril from aberrations, twisted beings spawned by the chaos storms of the Great Cataclysm. These aberrations, grotesque amalgamations of oncefamiliar creatures, haunt the savanna. Known for their unpredictable behavior and malevolent intent, they pose a constant threat to the Leorr nomads and any adventurers venturing through the land.
History: During the catastrophic events of the Great Cataclysm, Yxtan bore witness to the relentless destruction of its cities through violent earthquakes and the scourge of chaos storms, which either killed or forever corrupted its inhabitants.
Today: The land, scarred and transformed, stands as an area of wilderness, created by the cataclysmic upheaval that reshaped Yxtan's destiny.
