Caruntari
Pronounced: CARE-run-TAR-ee
Titles: Goddess of the Red Moon, Goddess of Chaos
Divine Rank: Greater Goddess, Child of the Stars
Position: Caruntari is the Great Goddess of the Red Moon and Chaos. She is the daughter of Dkarmun, the God of Entropy and Chaos, and Tinwetari, the Goddess of the Stars and Creation. She is the mother of some of the lesser gods. Her bright red moon was shattered by a great collision with another large body in space shortly after its creation. Infused with the power of primal chaos, it survived this cataclysmic event and is today one of the three moons that orbits Raios. It is much smaller and farther away than the large White Moon, yet bigger than the Black Moon. Revealing its chaotic nature, the moon constantly changes its brightness, size and shape in the night sky as its fragmented oblong shape tumbles erratically in its highly elliptical circumpolar orbit around Raios. Caruntari is small enough that it has little effect on the tides of Raios.
Appearance: Caruntari appears as a beautiful woman with long wavy bright red hair. She is usually depicted wearing red clothing.
Backstory: Caruntari is the daughter of chaos. While her father Dkarmun is distant and mostly concerned with far off parts of the universe, Caruntari serves to bring chaos to Raios. She is ever hidden in the background, scheming to disrupt the plans of the lawful gods. As the second of three goddess moons in orbit around Raios, Caruntari is ever in competition with the other two.
Holy Symbol: A chaos symbol with a random number of outwardly radiating arrows (usually 5-16). Higher ranking clergy have holy symbols made of red gold that are often inset with rubies.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Cleric Alignments: Chaotic Neutral is preferred. Chaotic Good and Chaotic Evil are allowed.
Portfolio: Red Moon, Chaos
Domains: Chaos
Allies: Dkarmun
Enemies: Rhomm
Holy Weapon: Spiked Mace
Dogma, Clergy, Temples: Caruntari’s clergy wear red robes and raiment. Due to their agenda of spreading chaos, her temples are few in number and their construction is often prohibited in lawful kingdoms. This forces her followers to erect secret temples to her in isolated areas. They typically are in a location with a good view of the night sky.
Tenets: Spread chaos and oppose the forces of law. True freedom can only be found in the complete absence of laws.
Anti-paladin Code: Oppose the forces of law.
Sects and Cults: Caruntari is often worshipped by lycanthropes, especially werewolves, wererats, and other were creatures who live communally. These groups often form small cults that remain separate from her temples and formal clergy.
