Athne
Watcher of the Seasons and Keeper of Memory
One of two sets of twins in the Elven pantheon, she is the sister of Athnar. Together, they represent the collection of knowledge and literary pursuits in general. She is the part of that duo who looks backward, to the past. As with all gods, her domain consists of three aspects: a part of the sky (the planets), an aspect of nature (the seasons), and a social principle (history).
- The planets, like the other stars, revolve around the sky once every year. However, these bodies in particular have special times in which they enter retrograde, and travel backward for a time. For this reason, they are associated with Athne's backward-seeking view of time, and the cycles of nature.
- Each year is a cycle in which each season occurs in turn. When a new season approaches, we reminisce on past iterations, and practice traditions and rituals unique to that time. In this, we relive our pasts. Athne is the goddess of all cycles of time; the seasons in nature, and the repetitions of history.
- As the Keeper of Memory, Athne is dear to those who chronicle the past, who write and share history. The history of the Elves is very long, and started not long after their emergence as a separate Lineage; their dedication to the gods of time entice them to keep honest and precise records of all that transpires, so that future generations are thereby enriched.

Tenets of Faith
Orders devoted to the gods of time are the keepers of histories, operating monasteries from which they produce books of fine quality, which are illuminated by the adherents of Caralnis. Priests of Athne often seclude themselves, poring over documents, seeking verification of dubious claims, copying documents that are in disrepair, and compiling accepted works into collections of history that they then proffer to the public, usually at a small cost. However, there are also many who roam the world, actively seeking new developments and historical events so that they can record them by the most primary sources available.
Prayers to Athne are made in written form and taken to special shrines where they are compiled and preserved. They may be anonymous, at the discretion of the subject, but this is not the default. Prayers are made by those seeking information when they suspect it has already been discovered and lays waiting to be discovered; by contrast, those seeking previously undiscovered knowledge pray to Mrendil.
