Athnar
Watcher of Years and Chronicler of Fate
One of two sets of twins in the Elven pantheon, he is the brother of Athne. Together, they represent the collection of knowledge and literary pursuits in general. His part in the duo is to look forward, to the future. As with all Elven gods, his domain consists of three aspects: a part of the sky (comets), an element of nature (Years), and a social principle (Fate).
- Comets, for most people, are unpredictable and sudden, yet the most studious of astronomers can predict their occurrence; thus, when one appears, it is taken as a sign from Athnar that great events are afoot, especially those which will upturn the natural way of things, as a comet's passing disturbs the otherwise regular heavens.
- While each year individually is a cycle of seasons, the years as a collective pass one after another, each leading to the next. Time, when viewed as a linear series of events, is the place of Athnar to lead.
- As the Keeper of Fate, Athnar carefully examines the futures seen in the Firmament and strives to understand them. He is cautious to keep what he learns to himself, and seldom offers it freely. His aid is sought by those hoping for guidance into the future or a kinder fate than seems to face them.

Tenets of Faith
Orders devoted to the gods of time are the keepers of histories, operating monasteries from which they produce books of fine quality, which are illuminated by the adherents of Caralnis. Adherents to Athnar specifically are rare, however, as predicting the future is both fraught with difficulty, and a great risk, for one whose predictions are wrong will be accused of deceit and face strong retribution from the government, including death. Those who do seek to know the future use both scientific and magical means to do so, and, like the god they serve, are reluctant to share their results lightly, lest their predictions be deemed unsatisfactory.
Prayers to Athnar are made in written form and taken to special shrines where they are compiled and preserved. They are often made anonymously, and consist of requests for the god to send them guidance to avoid a looming unpleasant fate, or seek a desired but seemingly unlikely fortune.

Unlike the other statues, it is turned to look away from the center of the chamber, gazing outward with a stoic expression, and it holds a golden scroll clasped tightly in both hands.

Mental characteristics
Intellectual Characteristics
Athnar takes after his father, being stoic and serious, and spends much of his time studying the Firmament, although where Rusasha sees beyond the Firmament, Athnar sees the reflection of possible futures. He does not share what he sees gladly, for too often it is unpleasant, and once revealed, the future cannot be changed.
