Varand

Varand, or Ferant, was a prominent city in the central southeastern region of the Amoŋot Desert. Alongside the western city of Óvarhën, Varand is often seen as a linkage point between the Hýyó-Hayïd and Hýyo-Wýðúr. However, due to its allegiances to the Maðúšýï and its subsequent breakaway tribe the Ðú-Üdarr, it is typically seen as being closer in ideology and cultural stance to the Hýyó-Hayïd.

History

Founding

The city of Varand was founded on 3 Ulta-Eimarae, 25019 AYM in the immediate aftermath of the forced eviction of the local citizens of Óm-hayïd and Güðün by the newly-created tribe of Varhoŋïð-Khalúš. This was precipitated by earlier events, like the departure of the Ýlëntuk Family and the Ambush of Ŋópïŋ-Arún-Khërn, but these will not be covered in too much detail here.

Güðün

After the Ambush, which occurred on 22 Wota-Eimarae, 25020 AYM, the majority of Khalúšians would flee to the then-bustling Güðün. In a gradual process lasting several months, the Öšdúu-Güðün, the ruling government of the city, and its king Žlúnúyšat, would be more and more forced to bow to Khalúšian demands. This would be caused by the tribe taking up more and more of the population. However, the Khalúšians' fervent anti-Ïlýrhonid sentiments clashed violently with the city's favored pro-Ïlýrhonid sentiments. With their influence, the tribe would force Žlúnúýšat and the local population to leave the city, whereupon Güðün and its resources would be free for use to further the Khalúšian goals.

Upon being evicted, some of the scattered civilians would wander the desert areas between the Hýyo-Wýðúr, thus inevitably becoming involved with the crime scene in those regions. However, most of these would coalesce southward to join some of those evicted from the city of Óm-Hayïd.

Óm-Hayïd

The city of Óm-Hayïd was the most populous and most eastern city of the Hýyó-Hayïd cities. Being the only such city adjacent to both the Volain Forest and the Nuzowli Mountain Range, it was a fundamental part of the Hayïdic cities. It supplied vast amounts of materials like vines, wood, and rocks to the other cities during its brief tenure as an integrated part of the Hayïdic community. It was thus a massive loss to them that the Khalúšians would take over the city. This would then lead to the further reliance of the Hayïdic Cities on the Arbin Watershed, the only other source of rocks in the region.
