Irðar-Ýïr

Irðar-Ýïr, or Erdarir, was one of the 14 tribes of the Arðor-Kýï and one of the four First-Phase Kýïan Tribes. Mainly comprising non-Talians who had been denounced and shamed for their associations with the Talians, they renounced the demands of both the Talians and the Úŋïans, instead detaching themselves from the conflict altogether and enacting a tight brotherhood that fiercely guarded a small number of essential resources for their own people. In this sense, they hoped to weather out the Crisis of 24982 AYM through their spartan lifestyles, although the growing chaos and confusion, and finally the expulsion of the Family as a whole, forced them to adapt in preparation for the larger Khólteðian Wars.

History

Prelude

The Irðar-Ýïr Tribe was highly limited and secretive in its origins. It was tied to the emergence of the Fýr-Hŋýtor, the descendants of Öhr-Fëkahr, who in 25100 AYM had committed the then-grievous crime of Ýyorhïsïb with members of other families. These descendants were subsequently ostracized from the family and relegated to the territories of Krëšŋ-Ðórr and Khëlër-Ðórr in the extreme southwestern edge of the family territory. Those individuals whose descendants were to become the Irðar-Ýïr were not part of the Fýr-Hŋýtor itself, but were nonetheless sympathetic towards them. In response, they were too relegated not to the Krëšŋ-Ðórr or the Khëlër-Ðórr, but to the outskirts thereof just to the northeast. For clarity, these such ancestors of the Irðar-Ýïr tribe will be referred to as being part of the Irðar-Ýïr proper, although that term did no exist until the Crisis of 24982 AYM.

Over the years, the entire Ïlýrhonid Tribe would be thrust into the tumult of the Ýmor-Šapariž period, during which all 12 families were rocked by a series of natural disasters and the emotional turmoil of the Ýmïlýrhonid Movement. As such, the birth rates in much of the Khólteðt Family (including Irðar-Ýïr) fell dramatically during this period, although the social isolation of the Fýr-Hŋýtor meant that they largely did not change. Thus, the Irðar-Ýïr saw themselves as the victim, having been the target of both the stigmatization and the stunting that dominated this period. By the time of the Crisis of 24982 AYM, the Fýr-Hŋýtor, who had renamed themselves the Arðor-Tal, made up around 25% the population of the Family, and had become increasingly militant, while the Irðar-Ýïr was composed of only around 550 individuals, one of the smallest in the Arðor-Kýï.
