Belš-Aŋuýb

Belš-Aŋuýb was the leader of the Belúb-Ýïr Tribe during the Crisis of 24982 AYM and Khólteðian Wars. He was a noteworthy pretender to the title of Hyvamto-Žö-Ýšïb, and widely supported by those around him due to his experience with both the Arðor-Tal and Arðor-Úŋï. However, his movement never got far within the Crisis, and instead, his influence is primarily recognized in conjunction with the actions of the Belúbian Tribe during the Khólteðian Wars, during which conflict Belš-Aŋuýb lost favor with his group and was assassinated in mid-24980 AYM.

Biography

Belš-Aŋuýb is one of the more enigmatic characters within the Crisis and Khólteðian Wars. Although he was a very public figure, he nonetheless employed rampant falsehoods and tricks to manipulate his image. As such, there is much about him that historians simply do not have much certainty of.

However, one of the few details that is supported by external evidence is that Belš-Aŋuýb was born around 25035 AYM, as his name as well as this date are listed in the Žötó-Ïdhatón, or genealogical records, of the Khólteð Family. Note that his name is not 'Belš-Aŋuýb', but simply 'Aŋuýb', and this shortening as well as his mere presence on the records indicates that he was likely not a member of the Fýr-Hŋýtor, that is, the marginalized group that would later become the Arðor-Tal. Being ostracized to an excess, they were almost completely excluded from the records and, in their search for their own culture, latched on the double-barrelled naming structure that Aŋuýb would later adopt through his addition of the Belš prefix.

It is unknown when Aŋuýb added that prefix, but he must have done so after numerous visits to the Fýr-Hŋýtor. Although the Belš prefix is a fairly common one, and thus an easy target for Aŋuýb, it still would have taken a great deal of effort (including immersing oneself with the Hŋýtian cultures and customs) to really understand what the Belš prefix meant. In fact, it is precisely from Aŋuýb's recounts that the earliest etymology of that prefix is known, namely as 'watcher' or 'witness'. Belš-Aŋuýb himself relates this to his place of upbringing at the very border between the Fýr-Hŋýtor and the rest of the Khólteð Family, thus bearing witness to the years and strive and tension that defined their relationship. This would also have been a plausible explanation for how he became so accustomed with Hŋýtian views, as he would have had easy access to both sides by way of this proximity.
