Guild of the Eternal Flame

The only mages guild with permission to operate in New Neverwinter, and only because they are so atypical. Their founder essentially created the eldritch knight, and they practice in the sword as much as with magic. They’re highly lawful, and their members are often tasked with law enforcement in the old city, as well as defending the city from attacks whenever necessary. Students there generally limit their studies to the schools of Abjuration and Evocation, and almost never enchantment or necromancy. Students learn swordsmanship as well as spellcrafting but there are courses for just pure magic. The departments which teach magic within the Guild occupy the western wing of their guildhall, while the martial departments are in the eastern wing. Their Guildhall is known as the Ignis Institute.   The eponymous "eternal flame" is a fire that sits in the centre of their guildhall (and, allegedly, in other places in their guildhall) and is said to represent the limitless power of magic. According to their traditions, a total military takoever of Neverwinter is impossible for as long as the fire burns. The flame is used regularly in the Guild's ceremonies.   Their members strictly adhere to their 7 laws:
1) Do not contact the lower planes
2) Do not eat the flesh of man
3) Do not harm the innocent
4) The will of the individual must remain sacrosanct; do not control others magically
5) Uphold the covenants of the guild, respect its hierarchy and its duties
6) Do not use magic for personal gain or selfish reasons
7) Always seek to improve your arcane abilities, except where that contradicts the former laws   “Flame eternal, heart unyielding” - The motto of the Guild of the Eternal Flame   The current leader, Archflame Kaerla Brightfire (A passionate and strong-willed Summer Eladrin), has a strong dislike of the Lord Academic Fablen Wiggins (who runs the Guild of machinists). This is because the guild of machinists always gets a position on the council instead of the guild of the eternal flame. However, her strong lawful nature and sense of duty to the city means she respects Open Lord Thalmara’s decision regardless.   Players who are part of the guild can include wizards, eldritch knights and arcane tricksters. For the latter two, while they aren’t adept in magic they are referred to as “flame seekers” (this will be levels 1 and 2 before they obtain the subclass). If you pick the aforementioned subclass and gain the ability to cast magic, you obtain the rank of “Flame Weaver”. Wizards will start out with this rank. There are more ranks as you progress, as well as the general progression (as far as levels go):
1) Flame Seeker (Levels 1,2)
2) Flame Weaver (Levels 3,4,5,6)
3) Flame Ward (Levels 7,8,9)
4) Flame Sentinel (Levels 10,11,12,13,14)
5) Flame Bearer (Levels 15+. You’d need to show a true commitment to the guild to obtain this rank, which grants access to the Guilds council)
7) Archflame (This is the head of the guild, and cannot be easily obtained by skill alone)   Each rank up also has an associated ceremony, which takes place at the Guilds headquarters in the River District. Joining the guild requires passing an exam of magical and military knowledge, and then a presentation of your abilities, either in the martial or the Arcane. Demonstrating ability in either area is generally enough to join.   "With this vow, I bind my spirit to the Guild of the Eternal Flame, dedicating my life to its noble cause, and pledging my allegiance to the preservation of magic, justice, and the pursuit of a better world. May the flame guide me and may my heart remain steadfast, forevermore" - Part of the vow to join the guild.
