Noveria Exports
A former shipping concern that collapsed in on itself, the warehouses have now been overtaken by refugees from the Midwest. An overflowing community now calls this place home, and guard it warily from outsiders. They are lead by Sarah Taylor, who has inherited the leadership position from her mother and struggles to hold onto power while ensuring the well-being of the people in her charge.
Purpose / Function
Noveria Exports once "brough the belt to you," according to their now-retired company motto. A former shipping concern, Noveria Exports hauled in raw ore mined offworld to the great factories of the Midwest. With the demise of the Midwest Alliance, however, one of their biggest clients dissolved into fragmented barbarian states almost overnight, leaving Noveria unable to keep their creditors at bay. It's unclear who now officially "owns" the warehouse, but nobody has shown up to claim it... yet.
Alterations
The refugees wasted no time upon seizing the warehouse. Empty shipping containers were turned into temporary homes, with a small warren of improvised scaffolding and ladders linking the stacks together. Those who weren't lucky enough to claim a proper container to live in are relegated to small "cul-de-sacs," where communal groups or families sleep in shifts in deadend alleys between the stacks.
On the rooftop, Sarah Taylor has ordered the construction of rain collectors and guerilla gardens to help make life a little more manageable for her people. She's also arranged for power to be siphoned from the local grid thanks to some talented engineers in her entourage, though the supply is intermittent at best.
Defenses
The Refugees count several former military members among their number, and they are more than willing to defend their home from outside threats. Patrols ensure the entrances and exits are well-watched at all hours and are ready to fire warning shots at any gangers that get too close for comfort.
