Generators
Generators are the major mechanical relics of a long gone civilization. Ruins buried deep in the ground and the depths of the ocean.
Generator Types.
- Manufactured: These are Generator in name only. Basic mecha and mechanical armor created out of a subpar understanding of the technology. They often times have actual controls instead of the intuitive connection between Generator and Pilot. These are primarily manufactured in Orix, though Idiir has their own versions that are closer to the original designs.
- Armor: These Generators are essentially an Armor that fits tightly over the body. Sometimes only a partial suit is used in place of a lost limb perhaps. These Generators do not hold the power of some of the larger class Generators, however they will grow and adapt with the wielder. These armors can often times almost feel alive, they have the added benefit of working with the Dustless as well. Making them ideal tools for those who can not innately manipulate Dust.
- Sentinel: Generators who stand between 1 and 3 stories tall fall under this classification. They generally possess a spirit of their own that bonds with a chosen Pilot. Though they can be piloted by someone without a bond, it's true effectiveness comes from this Bond between Pilot and Machine. The power range on a Sentinel Class Generator is vast. From a cobbled together sentinel of various scrap components creating a serviceable worker or guardian with minimal Dust manipulation. To pristine relics that rival a Shard in pure power.
- Titan: Monsters made of machines. Creatures that can generally not be piloted as the Generator's Spirit is too powerful to be tamed by a Pilot. Frequently these are larger even then the biggest Sentinel Class Generators. These could be massive beetle like creatures that hide in the deserts, or sea creatures that lurk in uncharted waters. Some are even the size of a metropolis, swimming through the oceans.
Piloting a Generator
For Generators of Sentinel classification and many Armor classification. There is a cockpit located in the chest of the Generator. It is accessed in a variety of ways. Some go through the upper spine , some enter through the chest or back (the generator opens to allow them in.) Once inside the Generator the cockpit is flooded with Dust which connects the pilot to the generator. From the pilot's perspective, they ARE the Generator at that point. They can feel the wind on their skin, the burn of fire striking the metallic armor of the generator. Even so far as they can feel the aches in the joints of a Generator that has not been properly maintained. This direct connection allows a pilot to channel some of their own power through the Generator as well as fully understand the Generator's capabilities. Should the Generator allow them to.
