Eclipse Towers
Ten Towers are placed at equal increments around Miramai. Each tower is 1,000km apart from the next along Miramai's equator. These towers rise 1km from sea level. They appear to be four sided obelisks that come to a point at the top. Each side is 200m wide, and are intricately carved with runes that scholars have studied for centuries. It's believed the towers are made entirely of Particulum. However any attempt at taking samples is met by violent magical force repelling the attempt.
They are referred to as The Eclipse Towers because each one marks the point that the two moons that orbit Miramai eclipse. Each month on the 13th, the moons will eclipse over one of the 10 Eclipse Towers. Most of these Eclipses are celebrations in the region, as with the eclipse comes a surge of power to Dust in the region. The exception to this are the Prime Tower located at the heart of Olivaan, and the Negative Tower at the heart of Nado'viir.
The Prime Tower at the heart of Olivaan is far more powerful than any of the other towers. The day of the Eclipse over the Prime Tower floods the entire planet of Miramai with power. The Olivaan Union feels the surge more than any other region due to proximity, but all other regions feel the influx of power as though the Eclipse was over their own local Tower.
The Negative Tower is of course the opposite. One day a year, when the Eclipse happens over the no mans land surrounding the Negative Tower, Miramai's magic is silenced. The people and creatures of Miramai feel the magic that fuels the world cease. This day has been used for some of the most tragic events in Miramai history. A day when the gods are silent and Fragments are powerless.
Due to the Eclipse Tower's connection to Dust's revitalization, they are always points of interest that draw the people and creatures of Miramai. During the lead up to the Eclipse, local cities will fill with outsiders. The Trade Nation of Ehriil makes two circuits around Miramai and maximizes the opportunity to be near the towers when they have their Eclipses. Even if Ehriil itself isn't there, it's a near guarantee that some of the traders of Ehriil will be setup with carts or on boats around the tower.
