Wood Elf

Whimsical wanderers of their forest homes, wood elves revel in the beauty of nature and love to spend their long lives following the winding forest paths through their homeland. Wood elves are fleet of foot and are naturally able to learn how to move stealthily and hide themselves in the wild, either for sport or to avoid the gaze of a predator. They are more reclusive than the High Elves of Twinleaf Mott and most prefer to stay away from the chaos of towns and cities, instead feeling much more at home in the surrounding woodlands. Wood elves live in a woodland city known as Cape Verdinia; located on the northern tip of The Brightgreen Isle. Cape Verdinia is a city grown entirely out of trees shaped by the natural magic of the wood elves to suit their needs; trees grow into the form of homes and towers, branches twist themselves into the shape of implements and nuts and berries can be found in abundance around this wood elf settlement.
ability score increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
age: Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.
alignment: Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly towards the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others' freedom as well as their own, and are good more often than not

speed: 35ft (see Fleet of Foot in Race Features)
Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and Elven.
race features:
  • Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
  • Trance. Elves do not sleep. Instead they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. The Common word for this meditation is "trance." While meditating, you dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.
  • Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
  • Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, shortbow, and longbow.
  • Fleet of Foot. Your base walking speed increases to 35 feet.
  • Mask of the Wild. You can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, and other natural phenomena.
Adapted to living in ancient woodlands, Wood Elves have noticeably larger almond shaped eyes than the rest of their species which come in shades of green, brown or hazel. They have lithe figures knotted with lean corded muscles which are perfect for moving quickly but stealthily through forest scrub. Their skin tends to be a copperish hue with the odd traces of green and their hair is usually brown or black but some Wood Elves have blonde hair.
