Tyrian Vancette-Ruschez, Emperor of Ruschez

Emperor of Ruschez Tyrian Vancette-Ruschez (a.k.a. Vante Rouche)

"O' Tyrian, Lusamiel sings for you, all you have fought and overcome has laid the way for your triumph. Those who fear you do so from jealousy, those who love you do so from awe and envy, and we who you have chosen will never leave you even in death. You are the inheritor of the world, forever and ever." - Final Words of Champion Alana Baliea
The emperor of the ancient empire Ruschez, called by many as the mightiest hero that Lusamiel will ever see. He who has amassed power and wealth in the name of leading Ruschez to perfection and freedom from the past. Tyrian Vancette-Ruschez is beloved by his home of Koranlus and feared by the Stealls of Ruschez for his growing power, it is believed that he will be the catalyst of change in Hitram and perhaps beyond.    From the Citadel of The Gods he rules the capital of Ruschez and seeks to return the whole empire into the hands of the imperial authority. With his Champions at his side and his vast knowledge and magical understanding, he is poised to unite Ruschez under one emperor for the first time in nearly fifteen hundred years.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Tyrian was born to the third wife of Emperor Lexan III of Ruschez, despite his birth being a month early he survived to be a healthy young boy. At the age of six, his mother was killed in a violent power struggle between his father and the Steall of Koranlus. Tyrian was sent away from the capital and was raised in Dabdan for the next seven years.      Upon his return to Koranlus, he found his father had died in an undisclosed accident the year prior and Tyrian was to become emperor. However, the Steall plotted his assassination, Tyrian only survived due to the loyalty and quick thinking of his uncle, Mallus, who died shortly after the two fled Koranlus from his wounds. Left alone, Tyrian began wandering Hitram and living among its peoples. By the age of sixteen he had gained enough money to book passage on a trading vessel to Danshea alongside his two followers, the former dwarven gladiator Daggro Blunt-Edge and the ex-assassin Callishta.      During his time in Danshea he supposedly performed many miraculous feats, from slaying giant serpents to out talking a devil archduke. However, the legitimacy of these tales are in question as they were recorded by Tyrian's most loyal followers. He also is believed to have gone to Hazor and Septum according to his Red-Gold Chronicles that lists the events of his adventures and his rise to power.    After two years of travel he returned to Koranlus and forcibly seized power from the Steall of Koranlus, establishing himself as Emperor of Ruschez and granting himself direct rule over Koranlus, which had not been seen for over six centuries. Since then Tyrian has been systematically reshaping Ruschezian society into something new. The previously poor streets of Koranlus have become a beacon of the arts, and Tyrian has spent the last three years assembling his Champions in the Citadel of The Gods.

Education

He was given the best education Dabdan had to offer, living among the higher class of the dwarfish nobles. As such he knows the history of the dwarves, elves, and humans in all of Hitramite cultures. He also learned several languages and during his travels he practiced in Kvitheim and learned how to weave Runes.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Tyrian in his few years has successfully slain a giant Yuan-Ti pseudo-god, tricked devils, took control a fleet of merchant vessels across the Great Expanse, and supposedly travelled to the Astral Plane. Though a few of these are hard to confirm since they are only written in the accounts of clearly biased sources.    After his travels he swiftly took control of Koranlus and revitalized the entire city and has created a powerful group of Champions that has fought off several attempted assassinations by the other Stealls. His latest achievement is completing the Gauntlet, a massive underground structure where willing participants go through several trials to be judged worth of being his Champions. It is one of the largest continuous dungeons ever built.

Failures & Embarrassments

Tyrian's failures are not as documented as his achievements, though they are recorded in places. He was unable to save the city of Dell Mirthan from the control of its power-hungry triumvirate and was forced to leave, he was also unable to save his Champion Knorr when he was targeted by assassins. More recently he was forced to back down from a potential war with Hagrus when he began to exert his influence in the Great North territory of Ruschez.

Intellectual Characteristics

Tyrian is a remarkably bright man who has used his intellect to stabilize and exert control over Koranlus which had previously been under the control of the Stealls of Koranlus for six hundred years. Afterwards he established several branches of the imperial government to aid the welfare of the people, and he has supposedly outsmarted the archdevil Mephistopheles.

Morality & Philosophy

Tyrian regards death with little substance due to his knowledge of magic and his travels of the Outer Planes, he even supposedly met his father's spirit in Ysgard and defeated him in battle. As such he gladly kills and put himself in life-threatening situations, he has lost three Champions due to his way of thinking but none of them show any signs of regret. Most of his followers follow his school of philosophy which has come to be called Vancism, after Tyrian's alias while he was in hiding.    Vancism promotes the idea that souls are eternal and constant, and since the soul is the heart of a person, death is an inconsequential part of life. Death is at most an inconvenience and sometimes a boon for those who wish to pass into another plane of existence. Another aspect of it is the love of indulgence and the arts, Vancism espouses that one's existence should be lived to the height of any given person's desires. But the main part that Tyrian and his followers focus on is the belief that a ruler's duty is to be the paragon of which the people should aspire to be.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

According to the philosophy of Vancism, which he created, he intends to reunify Ruschez under his authority and bring about a perceived golden age of enlightenment and creativity.

Likes & Dislikes

Tyrian loves the arts and poetry, his love of knowledge also leads him to search out lost knowledge to add to his archives. He will also take the chance to perform in local plays if the fancy strikes him. He, however, very much dislikes braggarts who cannot back up their claims. If one is to claim superiority, they best be able to prove it in a timely fashion lest they draw the emperor's ire.

Virtues & Personality perks

Tyrian is a charismatic leader who has drawn many to his side and genuinely endeavors to improve the lives of his entire empire through the wealth he has amassed by building up those who serve under him. Those who prove capable are exalted and shown grace, while those who slack off are given no favors.

Vices & Personality flaws

Tyrian believes only he can lead the world to the future, and sees the rest of the leaders around him as too flawed to help their own people. His grand ambitions have cost him dearly at times, but his philosophy trivializes death so he feels no grief or regret at his actions.

Social

Social Aptitude

Tyrian is one of the greatest orators of his time, riling those listening to him into an impassioned frenzy, as such he leads armies against any threats with his words alone. He views himself as the pinnacle of humanity, and as the only one who can lead Ruschez to true peace and prosperity, this incredible ego and confidence rolls over into every conversation he has.

Hobbies & Pets

Tyrian has an entire Royal Zoo beneath the Citadel of The Gods packed with animals he has personally trained, this creatures range from the mundane like tigers and sharks, to the extraordinary like displacer beasts and gibbering mouthers. Tyrian's interest change on a whim and one day he can be training in martial arts and the next he could be holding a public play in the city amphitheater.

Speech

Tyrian has a powerful voice that can reach everyone in earshot as though he were right next to them, the fiery and poetic language he uses sparks vivid images in the minds of those who hear him. Those in his favor are complimented with the most honeyed words, and those he despises will find them under scathing criticism that leaves their spirits broken.
