The mortal race of humanity is the most widespread sapient species to ever walk on the Material Plane, expanding far beyond what most races believed possible with their short lifespans. Throughout history mankind has battled the odds to come out as some of the greatest wizards, heroes, and villains that the world has ever seen.   The humans were first made by The Source before any other races were created, however what The Source imagined for the humans was one of peace and simple joys. So while other races were made and set to work doing their gods' bidding, the human race began its existence as simple caretakers of the world itself.   This changed when Diavon sought to avenge his own downfall, first he planted the seed that would corrupt Asmodeus, and then he and Asmodeus tricked mortals, including the first humans, into introducing sin and death into the world. Some of these mortals gave into their carnal desires quickly, and when they did Diavon took hold of them and twisted their foul thoughts into their form; creating the first demons.   The Source threw the demons into a dark pit where their twisted existence could not run wild on the mortal plane, creating The Abyss. And upon seeing what had happened, The Source left the Perfect World, and it became the Fractured World, all created races became mortal, and as time went by the lifespan of each race grew shorter and shorter. At one time both elves and humans lived for almost a millennia, but they each suffered in their own way.   To this day, humanity feels the effects of this event, and many races still blame humanity for what happened, as they were the caretakers of the world and allowed evil into it. Still, humanity has sought to better itself throughout the ages and marches ever onward to a greater future.
