Ruschezian Emperor

The title of emperor in Ruschez is different from other empires, for their emperor is more than a mere ruler or even a divine king, but the paragon of humanity itself. The standard for all others by which all is judged and held in comparison. It is by this comparison that Ruschez began to conquer Hitram five millennia ago and have lasted since then, though they may have shrunk. While the title of emperor in Ruschez has lost its power, the most recent emperor has sought to change that and return power to the title.

Qualifications

The previous emperor trains the heir personally in everything they believe is necessary to become emperor. While this practice was broken off then Tyrian went into hiding while young and his training was left unfinished.

Appointment

To be named emperor, the Steall of Koranlus must declare them the rightful heir of the first emperor, Varincius. Then they recite the same words as Varincius' coronation as all the stealls stand as witnesses with the presence of the entire capital city's population. However, when Tyrian took power he overthrew the Steall of Koranlus who had unjustly named himself emperor, and so Tyrian instead named himself emperor; symbolically severing the emperor's necessity for the Steall of Koranlus, a position which has laid empty since.

Responsibilities

To lead the people in worship, build the national army, balance the powers of the stealls and make treaties with foreign powers. The emperor was meant to keep all the stealls in check through power and money, but this was usurped until more recently.

History

Varincius was a soldier for the, at the time, city-state of Koranlus. The city was ruled by a duke who sold his soul to Asmodeus for power and ruled the city with brutality. Varincius then united the people in rebellion and was named the new duke, but instead chose the title emperor and turned his sights to the rest of the continent. On the day he was named emperor, his highest ranked general was the one to coronate and that would be the standard until the fifth emperor Casimir established the stealls.
