Session 28 - The Parting With Velko

The party work their way out of the marshes. They have an encounter with frog creatures at night but the creatures are scared away. Trying to cross the river they encounter more monsters crawling out of a muddy riverbank and have to divert their path. It's clear that what should be asleep for winter is not.   On the way back, Velko talks to Vasilii and says he has sensed that Vasilii has a task to complete in his homeland.   Finally they return to Dubinets. Hrefna goes to Naum's home to pay what the party owes him only to find they, along with Velko, have been forgotten here too. However, Naum offers the party and place to stay for the night as they try to decide what to do. They notice that they have eavesdroppers and so the next day they always leave one person in the room with the money to protect it. Hrefna is despondent after she does a foretelling finds out she's no longer engaged.   Velko wants to head south immediately to search for the Maiden, but the party wants to head upstream to the capital of the Prince of Luzhinsk to rest so Vladimir and Vadim can recover from injuries. Velko agrees to this as long as there are no more delays. When Vasilii insists they still need to deliver the money to Rurik, Velko becomes angry and feels they are not going to follow their word.   The group talks to Rada before leaving the village. Like everyone else, she has forgotten even her nephew.   Naum offers to have two of his sons accompany the party north to the city. They agree and set out. Vadim convinces them that the wolverine can be a friend. When the group reaches the city the guards are not so openminded and must be bribed to let the cart go into the city without being inspected.
