The Crocheter's Guild Headquarters

The Crocheter's Guild
The Crocheter's Guild is the most elite organization in the Loom. Members of their ranks have made their way to some of the highest positions in society. They are made of the most talented threadcrafters in the Loom. These are the threadcrafters who have not only been allowed to learn the highly secretive art of crochet, but have shown exceptional skill in its use. Due to their major role in maintaining and expanding the Loom, the Crocheter's Guild has been given its own district within the Loom to use as their headquarters. This area is restricted to only the members of the Guild, and is used for everything from threadcrafting to private meetings and intraguild events.Induction
To be inducted into the Crocheter's Guild requires undergoing a very selective process. Threadcrafting apprentices who shows much talent in weaving are taught the art of knitting, and those who shows exceptional talent with that art are privately interviewed by a member of the Induction Board of the Guild, who determines based on the personality and displayed talent of the apprentice if they are to be taught the art of crochet. If an apprentice is accepted by the Induction Board, they are brought to live in an Interim Threadsmithy on the outskirts of the Guild's district. They are taught by a Crochet Master, and carefully monitored for how much talent, skill, and dedication they display for the craft. If they show an insufficient knack for the art of crochet, they are eventually released back to the greater Loom, where they can gain renown as a master knitter or amateur crocheter, however, if they show an exceptional talent for the art of crochet, they are inducted into the Guild, and gain all privileges available to its members. The induction process is kept as highly secretive, but it is known that all individuals who have gone through it wear a unique crocheted symbol over their hearts.Inner Districts
Within the Crocheter's Guild Headquarters are a few inner districts, each containing important builldings and resources for the Guild's members.Threadsmithies
Threadsmithies in the Crocheter's Guild Headquarters operate differently to those outside of it. These buildings are individual to each member of the Guild, and contain both housing and the actual workspace for the Guild member. These buildings are the first projects of members upon being inducted into the Crocheter's Guild. While working on the Threadsmithy, new initiates reside in dorms in the Main Hall. They are required to craft the building completely with the art of crochet, starting on an empty assigned plot. The construction of the threadsmithy requires a residential quarter, a waste facility, and a workroom, although additional rooms for other purposes are accepted and recommended. The threadsmithy becomes the permanent home for the new Guild initiate, and so can be customized to whatever shape they desire. Often, as a Guild member progresses through their life, they expand their threadsmithy to include additional rooms and decorate its exterior with some of their most prominent work. Due to these factors, it is said that a walk through the threadsmithy district is never repeated, as the rows of buildings are ever changing and always unique.Main Hall
It needs no other name, for the imposing structure can be the only hall one may be referencing. The Main Hall is the largest structure of the Crocheter's Guild Headquarters, with its feet at the gate of the district and a length to span all the way to the opposite wall. The massive building houses dorms for new initiates, main meeting halls and ballrooms, and on its top level, the entire governing council of the Guild. While there are some smaller halls throughout the Headquarters, none are as grand or as imposing as the Main Hall. The Farms
The Crocheter's Guild has its own private farms, producing exclusively for its members. These farms are manned by the amigurumi servants created by the Guild, and are mostly located next to the wall, as most individuals in the Guild prefer not to have their homes or laboratories in the wall's shadow. The farms produce any type of food that is requested by members of the Guild, and can be directly shipped to the kitchens to be turned into elegant meals and delicacies. The Wall
The wall runs around the entirety of the Crocheter's Guild Headquarters. It is manned by both amigurumi servants and lower-ranked members of the Guild. As the Loom expanded upwards, the wall was built higher, so that no structure is ever above the Crocheter's Guild's guards. Inside of the wall are quarters, dining halls, and armories for the guards that man it.The Kitchens
The kitchens are a small collection of buildings near the center of the headquarters. Any member of the Guild may go there or send word to request select meals and delicacies as their heart desires. The Guild members and amigurumi servants that man the kitchens make every dish to perfection and deliver them to the members who requested them or to dining halls in enough time to still be fresh, no matter where in the headquarters it is.Laboratories
The laboratories are specialized buildings that some members of the Crocheter's Guild spend much of their time in. While some laboratories are made for general purposes, many are specially constructed by the Guild members for the purposes they desire. Within these laboratories, the highly skilled within the Guild work on new techniques and possibilities for what their talents with threads may be able to do. Some discoveries that these laboratories have led to are the ability to fly on carefully knit wings and the creation of life itself, through the incredible new technology of amigurumi.Growth
Over time, the landscape of the Crocheter's Guild Headquarters has changed many times. When all but the most famous members of the Guild die, their residences and laboratories are torn down to make room for future inductees. Often members who marry each other move their homes next to each other and fuse them together, merging the houses as well as adding additional rooms for daily interaction and for future children. Some of the general purpose buildings of the Guild Headquarters, such the Main Hall or the kitchens, are constantly being redone to add space and elegance to all parts of the Crocheter's Guild Headquarters. Additionally, the wall is extended higher every time a nearby building is constructed to be taller than it, eternally asserting the Crocheter's Guild's dominance over the entire society of the Loom. This article is a part of Llagnyn Era 5: The Era of Satisfaction
