Bindings and Boundings

Just inside the boundary of Natare, but not within the upper or lower cities, lies the building of Bindings and Boundings. Edging close to the Forest in the north, the Stationer is a three story building made from three pods, grown upon one another. The binding-press lays on the second floor, next to the membrane windows, and the staff have their quarters on the third floor. The first floor is the trade-front, and the sub-floor is where the massive magic-circuits lay that power and control the binding press.

Purpose / Function

The building is designed to reproduce as bindings ideas already planned for and to produce a certain number of 'empty' bindings that can be inked within. Usually a parchment, idea or old scrivening are brought to the inkery, where premade greshire spines are inked with the magic circuitry. Ontop this, a Stationer can lay circuits of longevity to preserve the binding for as long as possible, though these are not placed on all bindings, just those intented to go the millenium. A lacquer of a preserving sap can be painted over the product instead if it is designed for a more decade long life cycle.

Sensory & Appearance

The building uses the grown method of building construction, with awnings made from a grafted on hardier plant. The roofs and awnings are designed to push water off and protect the buildings occupants against the full sun coverage that the domicile/business gets for most of the day.
Due to the heat polluting off the Binding-press, the Breathing vents of the building are thicker and darker than usual, growing to protect themselves against the excess heat and yearly painted with a liquor that helps them thermal insulate against the warmer air.
The denizens keep the building in a state of structured chaos, several stacks of greshire casings greet those who enter. A bench grows in a twisted gnarled and completely irregular shape that hints at a straight surface to act as a welcoming desk. Hangers work from the ceiling, plants that are misted daily, but still struggle with the oppressive heat. The air is filled with a spiced scent that wafts from sun-dried roots pressed into a saplike oil.

Denizens

Most of the denizens of the establishment are foliads or trolls, though about 10 years after the Second demon war, this place began experimenting with iron demon apprentices. While their work ethic was good, the repetitive nature of the task has caused them to go through more than a few in the years since as the demons went in search of greater adventure.

Alterations

The third story did not always exist, the area being too warm for most, and the commute from inside the city not that far each day. The advent of the Binding Circlets however and the social need to preserve the archives of the past - many sources coming from Saburra Desert Archive has led to a much more irregular and constant request system. Several from Boundings have described the need as much more now now now, especially with the invention of the Br1n Network and its near constant requests on any form of archive.
Now the stationers and inkers stay on site, and employ runners during the daytime hours to allow tasks to be completed.

I like this store. I would give a lot for, to see this building once :) Is it a true bookshop or more like a book-binding shop? Because I understand it as the later, where you can buy pre-bound books that you can then write into? Please correct me, if I am wrong :D

Yes. Its main function is a book binder. But thewre exist earth-tablet like devices that act as journals/tablets.
