2AM - 1.1 - Legend of the Chupacabra

Setting Up Shop on Shailou

The Alphans are trying to set up some new digs on Shailou and be quiet at the same time. It's probably not their thing (the whole staying quiet), because it seems that they love a good mystery... or maybe it loves them.   The PCs generate three key Scenario Aspects:

• Let's Keep Things Quiet: Tatum's doing his best to keep things quiet on the home front, as quiet as possible about letting people know that MIT is currently based here and that they are watching over Professor X.
• Intrepid Scout of the Outback: Galareaux(Glaa) is scouting to the west of Agro Manor and has been tackling a particular species of large cat that has been drawn by and attacks livestock.
• Excuse Me Miss, You Dropped This... Is This Your (Drug) Ring? Nora decided to make herself useful by supplying Medical Aid to the locals in return for learning a little more about their high-quality Pharmaceuticals based on the little-known siraiketh (also Sirikaeth) flower. She discovers that there may be a drug ring performing questionable activities here. Especially given that near Capital there’s a growing “Pleasure Dome” setting near the city.

A Mystery Is Afoot!

There's an imbalance in big critters which normally disturbs livestock, and apparently, someone is trying to frame our Intrepid Scout. When the team comes together to talk about what they’ve been doing, Tatum realizes the Chupacabra is something of a mystical occurrence and there is something also about the drugs, especially those made by the particularly potent local additive siraiketh that may be tied into this. And the “potential” drug ring here? Yeah, there’s something deep going on! This launches us into…  

1.1.1 - Who Let the Chupacabra Loose?

Initial investigation into things yields awareness of Sirikaeth pollen blowing into the Tot settlement (approx 250 persons). Instead of quarantining and shutting down, various persons were “taken ill” while remainder of population watched. Sirkaeth near town was “destroyed.” Town members who were sick were “medically evacuated.” Settlement of Tot is being "monitored."

1.1.2 - Hidden Stuff: Bases, Chupacabras, Information

Grilled by the Shailou Planetary Defense Authority's Triume. Apparently, Galareaxu had used the protected AckAck Tree for her bridge . The SPDA comes to grudgingly respect the Alphans. In the conversations, however, the Alphans conclude that the Sheriff of PDA's Triume is either knowledgeable or responsible for what happened at Tot.   Glaa goes traipsing about in a field of freshly flowering Sirkaeth and almost escapes Micha, who at that time, looked like a purple ball. Nora comes up with an antidote for her Sirkaeth poisoning.  

1.1.3 - I Shot the Sheriff's Robot... Then I Stabbed It.

Gala and Micha beat down two security robots in impressive style (I mean, it was dark, so if they say it was impressive, it was). Tatum assists with getting control of the base's systems, but the Sheriff had been monitoring, tried to scrub systems, and escapes. It's determined that back up data is elsewhere (a previously unknown dark-side-of-moon base).   There are empty cryo pods but three T3 medical pods hold bodies in cryo sleep.  

Claritas: Glaa Did It!

• Sheriff had impressive methods to deceive even his own Triume’s telepath! They want to resign.
• Sirkaeth is a powerful psychoactive mutagenic substance that allows manipulation of dreams (re: Inception). Extraordinarily potent. It’s pollen can be lethal (if at the source or concentrated). It also causes actual mutation upon those it affects, though it’s unsure at this time on what degree the mutation happens or what it causes.
• This situation has House Mori written on it as the actual responsible party, though very difficult to prove.
• Glaa showing that she’s a force to be reckoned with. She figured out that the Chupa was scratching the Ackack trees, but she and Tatum came to the conclusion that it was actually the felines who were the pollinators for the flowers - that’s why the Chupa got upset when they were displaced by Glaa. Scratching the trees released some kind of signal to the felines that it was time to pollinate. That’s the rough working theory, but it seems pretty good right now. So, the answer, technically, is Glaa did. Glaa let the Chupa loose by displacing her (his?) kitty kats!
• Imminent threat of planet being quarantined.
