Etappe 5: A shortcut to San Raffaele
6 augis
The party wakes up refeshed in Taronula's cottage. The gnome is not at home anymore. At the small table they find the remains of a quick breakfast, a bag with rations and a few potions. Assuming the rations are for them those are taken but otherwise they respect Taronula's property. After picking up some of Gaius' stuff the four PCs continue their way to San Raffaele. En route to the foothills they shortly meet Taronula, who went to pick Sunberries at sunrise. Gaius Leads the way along the hills, slightly longer, but presumably also slightly saver.
After a while they hear sounds of a fight and go to investigate. Two Rodallans are fighting a huge spider, a third is downed below the beast. With the aid of the party the spider is killed and the grateful men take their injured companion back to Rodallo. At the end of the day a shallow stream bordered by a clif wall, blocks the way. Some crams carried by Hendrik create a path up. Roagda slips but is grabbed by Hendrik before he is carried off by the current. More careful they all scale the clif.
During the night, near the morning, a dire bear that is attracted by the smell of food attacks the camp. It deals some heavy blows but is killed before doing to much damage.
After another uneventful day the party reaches San Raffaele on the 8th of augis through the hills. They rendezvous with the coach crew, Licinius Macer Calvus, and the two young dwarf travelers Baldur and Ischimus. They learn that for several days no ships from Malinor have arrived at the harbor and thus that the outpost's activities have come to an unexpected halt. A batallion dwarf soldiers from Tur-Inan has passed recently to answer the call for help from Monferrato. Gortof and Hendrik accompany Roagda to the Monastery to which he was summoned in his dreams. In the monastery they meet Grisbahir who discovers that the sword Roagda bought at Orichan's Wonderlijkheden is an ancient artifact that aids its wearer to enter the dreamworld. Roagda accepts the invitation to spend the night at the monastery for a few lessons about the dreamworld. The other two decide to take the short walk back to the others at the outpost and pick up Roagda in the morning for the final etappe to Tur-Inan.
