History
Monferrato is one of the oldest towns in the known world. It is build on the ruins of an ancient fortress from the time before time. Stuck between the Tucino and Aisir River, and the Berga-Messi woods, the town was able to prosper without growing in size. Despite the abundance of water, several fires have devastated the city in the past. Most noteworthy is the fire of 1184 that destroyed nearly the entire town-center.
