Into the hungry mouth of the Scorpion

  Beneath the mask of Godliness we weave
Invented tales of names that bear no truth,
Concealing lies with carefully crafted sleuth,
And dream of victories we might achieve.

  Unmindful still of snares we yet believe,
The lessons of the past we render smooth;
Seven once-strangers, now reclaimed by youth,
Compose their lies: Will Magician yet perceive?

  A graveyard’s rusted hulks delay our climb,
Intrusions mark the pathways we pursue,
Yet none repent the trespass they have found.
From buried memory and stolen time,
We seek the truth in shadows faint of view,
And enter softly, making not a sound.

 

  Within the capsule, time’s long tale is sealed
With papers, wares, and countless weathered books,
Among the dust lie treasures, hidden looks
Through relics lost, our future is revealed.

  Through shattered halls the frantic students reeled;
Their lessons linger still on rusted hooks,
The bombs could not erase the scribbled rooks,
Though baked experiments lie unrevealed.

  Into the lab of Sanctuary we tread,
Where wayward students forge destructive art,
And magic leaps beyond its old restraint.
Upon the boards, strange mysteries are spread,
Each marking maps a ruin to impart,
Yet wild creation rises, unconstrained.
