ENR DS1

The Etorean National Railway's DS1 (Diesel Shunter 1) is an 0-4-0 diesel shunter constructed by John Fowler & Co. in 1933 for use by the ENR. It was the first diesel locomotive to be used by the ENR.
She arrived on the ENR in late 1933, being trialled in several different roles before being assigned to shunting duties in the goods yard at Shanross Station. In 1953, DS1 was moved from Shanross to Wooton to replace an old Manning, Wardle 0-4-0ST as station pilot but was replaced herself in the early 60s by a Ruston 88DS. DS1 was sold to the Midnight Oil Company in 1967 who used her to run trains over the Ilfield & Reley Marshes Railway to an ENR exchange siding. DS1 (then Ilfield №4) was layed up with a broken jackshaft, officially being withdrawn in early 1974.   Upon her withdrawal, DS1 was purchased by Jimmy Allen who moved her to the Rae Valley Railway with intent of restoring her. She was sold by Allen's grand-daughter to REAF Veteran Mikhail Hodges in late 2016 after Jim's death. She is now in operational condition on the Parsley Line.
