Douglas MacArthur

Douglas MacArthur was a military leader within the Kingdom of America. MacArthur gained prominence during the Great War, where, while America officially signed for neutrality in the Congress of Columbia, he campaigned for an American division to enter the conflict. He was granted this by a War Department that was in favor of intervention. MacArthur was promoted to Colonel and made the Chief of Staff of the Rainbow Division, so named because it was made up of National Guard units from numerous states unassigned to a division. This allowed the Division to be deployed, since the state's governors were allowed to authorize without the approval of the king.

MacArthur and the Rainbow Division served in Europe in support of the Kingdom of Holland, fighting in France. When Holland fell to communism and joined the Comintern Union, MacArthur returned to America. Despite the controversial end of the campaign, MacArthur's career recieved little setbacks. He became known for his very prominent anti-Communist ideology, and would forever shape his views. MacArthur would later serve as Superintendent of the American Royal Military Academy, and then on the Chief of Staff of the Army. He would then retire in 1937.

MacArthur would later be recalled to active duty during the Pacific Theater of the World War, being among the few American military officers with combat experience. He was named the Supreme Commander of the Pacific Theater, while his later political rival, Dwight D. Eisenhower, became Supreme Commander of the European Theater. MacArthur would develop the war plan that would eventually defeat the Empire of Japan.

Following the war, MacArthur campaigned for selection of Chancellor, recieving the nomination of the Whig Party. He became famous for his anti-Communist rhetoric, in which he called for the invasion of the French Socialist Republic in order to reshape the government. He campaigned in the 1954 and 1958 elections, being defeated both times by Eisenhower.
