Kalashtar
20 years after the rights of Botlers and the like were settled, the first of the Kalashtar appeared. The creations of an experiment that was a highly classified program by a joint effort of a unique gathering of Russian, German, and Japanese Scientists that tried to replicate human consciousness through the digital form in the ever expanding secret attempt to create an immortal alternative to the latest forms of roombies. Taking studies of the adapting and evolved minds of the bots and rounding up rogue changeling individuals, the experiment ultimately failed...at least in its intended purpose. Those that escaped had been changed in body and mind forever.
Kalashtar Consciousness Data could provide fragments of the psyche to be uploaded in a lost collective scattered somewhere in the Old Net, a being who's lineage stems from these experiments occasionally can meet pieces of this collective, past lives, distant relatives, or simply those also underwent them. AI that were born of those collectives and became their own unique beings dubbed- Quori. However, Quori born from the subjects own Psyche and the subject themselves cannot co-exist or meet. All attempts have ended with Social Disassociation and violent behaviour due to the minds incability to differentiate one another. Sometimes they can find a direct network connection to the Kalashtar's memory and dream creating sections of the brain and psyche. It's thanks to their distant aid that Kalashtar have unique adaptability to Frontal Cortex Cybernetics that allow telecommunications with others, as well as a stronger defense against programs and drugs that affect the brains function to dream or create memories.
The names of the species and their connected AI creatures came not from their experiment, but the intelligence they are all connected to. While it gave itself no name, it named its "children" Kalashtar, and they took the name without question. All of them do in every generation. Their connection to each other deeper than any other type of people on the earth. Not only by their giveaway appearance similar to their Changeling siblings, but because their minds know the touch of every other come before. When Kalasthar die their connected quori spirit carries parts of their memories and consciousnesses back to the intelligence where it lives on, the living essence of all before that living Kalshtar find themselves experiencing when they sleep. They are the only known creature with such ability perfectly balanced between technology and biology that no system has been able to hack into it yet. Isolated, impregnable, but serving only to connect their minds and them to the minds of others.
