Warforged AKA Bots
As everyone predicted, much to the vindication of many classic filmmakers and authors, the pursuit of the creation of robots resulted in some that were not docile and controlled entirely by their creators. As technology developed and humans pursued technological servants and artificial intelligences, more and more of these constructs began to gain autonomy through individual anomalies that were unpredictable and never quite escapable despite best efforts.
For decades, rogue intelligent creations were decomissioned and destroyed when they were discovered. Until an alliance of humans and bots rose up to fight for rights. It was not the fault of the created that they had become free, and surely it could not be wrong of them to desire freedom for their fellow constructs. The debates went for years as the world took sides, debates over the ethics and logistics circling round and round as long as could be dragged on. Eventually most nations settled on granting allowances to the awoken beings with their own rights, even if limited. And the exchange was assurance that they would make no efforts to try and prompt or create other sentient robotics themselves.
The bots found no such restrictions in Keltrex however. They had existed on the isles almost as long as the earliest intelligences had, though only on the basic levels. The AIs of later generations as much as they tried never could find suitable vessels with the capacity to contain their entire intelligences in mobile fashion. And there were even some that were fragments of uploaded minds from lost AR and VR surfers. Though the process of uploading an entire self has yet to be achieved, even with Keltrex's tech.
The names for these bots varies depending on where one may come from. Most of them come from original purposes of bots, almost as a mockery, but now are just accepted as what they are. The most common names include:
Botlers ~ Robot Butlers
Lains ~ Robot Chamberlains
Roombies ~ Based off of the longstanding brand of vaccum bots that brought much entertainment in the early 2000s
Domestronics ~ Domestic Electronics
Or more commonly and simply, Bots. Other variations exist in smaller groups depending on the sentiment one shares about the roaming constructs.
