King Lieven Michele Ellsworth (a.k.a. Lieven the Prosperous)
Lieven, the eldest son of the Hodrana royal family, was born into the heavy mantle of leadership. From a young age, he exhibited the qualities of a natural ruler. He was intelligent, calculated, charismatic, and strategic. He inherited his father's, benevolence and his mother's modesty, making him a beloved figure within the court and a promising heir to the throne.
As the crown prince, Lieven was conditioned for kingship through rigorous training in diplomacy, warfare, and the art of governance. He excelled in his studies, earning the admiration of Hodrana’s court and allies. The burden of expectation, however, weighed heavily on him. He often felt isolated amongst his family and friends. His younger brother, Ayden, was his closest confidant during these years, though their personalities and approaches to life often clashed. Where Ayden was impulsive and bold, Lieven was composed and deliberate.

Personal history
The Vernal Conclaves were an opportunity for Lieven to put his diplomatic skills to the test with the Sentis tribe. They were a proud and independent group of people that had lived in the Mangrove Glades for centuries. It was during these meetings that he first met Noemi Olasatra, the spirited daughter of the Sentis chieftain, Galt Olasatra. He initially dismissed her as brash and unrefined, since she spent a lot of time with Ayden, but he soon found himself captivated by her strength and unyielding nature.
Their bond grew over the years, but Lieven was torn between his duty to his kingdom and his feelings for Noemi. Despite the potential for scandal and the animosity between Hodrana and the Sentis, Lieven envisioned a future where their union could bring lasting peace. His father, however, forbade the relationship, viewing it as a threat to the kingdom’s stability.
After his relationship with Noemi was outed by Ayden, Lieven’s relationship with him became strained due to his complicated feelings toward Noemi. Lieven remained obedient to his father, and the subsequent estrangement from Noemi began. This period marked the beginning of a rift between the brothers that would only deepen with time.
Reign
Lieven ascended to the throne after his father’s untimely death. His reign began with promise, as he sought to strengthen Hodrana’s alliances and improve the lives of its citizens. He made significant strides in trade and infrastructure, earning the title “Lieven the Prosperous” among his people.
His reign, however, was marred by rising tensions with neighboring nations. His assassination by agents of the Sentis sparked the Great Sentis War. It was a devastating conflict that reshaped the political landscape of Vanori.
