1.2 Zhintaq
Associated Bloodline:
Zhintaq
- Settlement 12
NGSURKI
Bustling hive of industry and elemental magic
The Surki hive of Zhintaq is situated under the northern border of the Sunlands, and occupies the outside strata of one of the pillar-mountains holding up the roof of the Ainuin cavern. The city burrows some distance into the pillar - far enough to reveal the impenetrable blue-grey Corestone that makes up the central stratum: that which truly bears most of the mass pressing down on it from above. Understanding the necessity and role of the Corestone pillar, the peoples of Zhintaq have opted not to attempt to dig any deeper into its depths, and consider it a sacred remnant of Ainuin's creators.
The Surki peoples of this great hive have almost universally adapted to either the divine energies seeping down from the Sunlands, or the primal elemental energies from the Escarpment, which has caused the hive to develop down two very different paths - the divine-attuned Surki who bring light, warmth, and the grace of the gods to their home ; and the primal-attuned Surki who provide the bodily strength and elemental magics with which the hive shapes its surroundings.
As a result of this, a significant portion of the population of Zhintaq practice Kineticism to some degree - including the hive's ruling line, a position currently held by "Wender of the Sacred Passages", an Unblooded Fire-Metal Kineticist of no small amount of skill.
Government Communal hive
Population 3820 (98% Surki, 2% Other)
Languages Common, Sakvroth, Surki.
Religions Pantheons of light, fire, and the sun.
Threats Wildlife of Ainuin ; limited areas to grow food ; Gugs, Xulgath, and other subterranean civilisations.
Leaders:
Wender of the Sacred Passages (NG Surki Kineticist 15) A wise and benevolent Unblooded Fire-Metal Kineticist who orchestrates the development of the Hive.
