Rose Omori

Those who have heard of Rose know her for one of two reasons; either as the lead singer and guitarist for the glam metal band Rose & the Poisoned Thorns, or as one of the founding members of the mercenary company the Ravens of Persephone.  

Early Life

Rose was born on the planet of Persephone, she was part of the first generation of Humans born there as it had only been first settled a year earlier. Her parents had moved to the planet from living underground on Mars as miners. Persephone gave them the opportunity to not only live on the surface, but to start a farm raising sheep like they dreamed of.   Her mother was pregnant with her when they made the journey from Mars to Persephone. They were unaware of the risk to their child's health when doing so. Rose was born with bright red irises, a mutation caused by what is called Space Child Syndrome. Fortunately for Rose, no further mutations occured to her during the journey.   Growing up, Rose spent a lot of time helping around the farm when she wasn't at school. She joined the school's band soon began dreaming of fame and fortune as a rockstar. For her 14th birthday, her parents bought her an electric guitar. A year later she began placing flyers all around the nearby city of Edyn advertising her services as a guitarist. Most of the bands that called her number refused her for a variety of reasons. She found the most work as a session musician.  

Starting the Band

When Rose was 17, she met Jezibelle after playing a gig at a bar she was too young to drink in. Jezibelle approached her after the show, offering to teach her both as a musician and a Spiritsinger. Rose was reluctant to accept this offer as a Wychmyr offering to teach Spiritsinging for free was too good to be true. However, being a teenager, she decided to take a big risk.   Jezibelle was intending on starting a record label of her own, with money that she had saved up from her previous life as a mercenary. She wanted to create a band that would be tied to that label that would help get it off the ground. Jezibelle spent 6 months after recuiting Rose finding other members. Rose's 18th birthday came around soon after and contracts were signed. Rose & the Poisoned Thorns was formed and began recording their first album in the summer of 2028. On Feburary 4th, 2029 (Earth-Time) the band's debut album "Devil's Dream" was released.  

The Seige of Persephone

Volkov Industries had their eyes set on adding Persephone to their growing territorial holdings. As an Earth-like planet, Persephone would be unique among their holdings for being properly hospitable to human life. In September 2029 Volkov positioned a fleet around Persephone and demanded that Aegis relinquish their control of the planet. The people of Persephone did not know what, if any, negotiations were held between the two powers.   After 3 months of waiting, the answer was clear. Volkov sent troops down to the surface and began attacking anyone who resisted. The local military did their best to defend the planet. Their stubbon determination was able to hold out long enough for Aegis' own fleet to arrive and drive the Volkov fleet off. It would, however, take another 3 months for those reinforcements to arrive and Persephone had no way of knowing if they were even coming.   Rose knew about Jezibelle's previous mercenary life. One week into Volkov's initial offensive, it was clear that eventually the frontline would reach Edyn. Rose and Jezibelle resolved to help the planet's defense forces. They formed The Ravens of Persephone and used what funds they had to hire on a small platoon of soldiers. Jezibelle had one TH-30 "Ocelot" Corsair and one set of KS-54 "Lynx" Power Armor that she had kept from her previous mercenary days. Rose took the Lynx. The Ravens had just under two weeks to train and get in shape to fight. Their initial combat engagements saw more than a few losses. Regardless of the risk, the Ravens were defending their homes stood firm.   The surviving members of The Ravens were battle-hardened by the time the Aegis reinforcements came, as were the rest of the what remained of the planetary defence forces. When the Aegis fleet engaged the Volkov fleet in battle, what few ships the Persephone forces had to their name joined the fray as soon as they were able. Jezibelle and Rose, as both the Ocelot and the Lynx were capable of fighting in zero gravity, joined this fleet engagement as well. Unfortunately, Jezibelle would not survive this battle and Rose was left in charge of The Ravens.   Rose and The Ravens would join up with Aegis and take contracts to aid with the continuing war effort. Some of The Ravens veterans decided to leave and begin rebuilding their homes after Volkov was expelled from their home star system. As The Ravens became more famous for their actions in the war, more and more prospective recruits began looking to join.  

Aftermath

After Volkov and Aegis signed The Treaty of Persephone, Rose placed one of the veteran Ravens in the commander position. She wanted to restart her band and go back to doing what she loved. The Ravens saw plenty of success in her absence. While she is not active in The Ravens, her name is still carried along as their leader when news travels. While they are mercenaries, The Ravens only take jobs that they feel can be morally justified. Demand for copies of Rose's pre-war album have been increasing as good word about The Ravens spreads. Currently, Rose is working on her next album.
