Bryn’Dyr
Created by Adam Tingley // Wreckerdwarf
Early Life
Her father died before her entrance into the world and the loss of support forced her mother into a life of petty crime to make ends meet. Shortly after her mother's conviction and exile to the outcast populace of the city of Ang’Verd, she was born. In her early years, she took to learning as much about her kin as possible. Without an academic outlet like her peers in the higher levels of the city, she took her education through the words of those around her. Living vicariously through stories and cautious tales. Much of what she learned was the biased viewpoint of the downtrodden but without any alternate perspectives, this would go on to shape her. Without any runebranding, her mind was sharp and focused. In her early twenties, she used this to her advantage and would frequently manipulate and persuade guards and smugglers to provide more and more goods and information to her community. It didn’t take long for those around her to place her in high regard as both a supplier of sustenance but also of word from the greater city above. In her early thirties, the smuggling was cracked down upon by those in the higher levels. The once steady flow gradually became a trickle. Stories that she had been told of the intense poverty stricken lives of the outcasts prior to the city’s booming agricultural successes sent a chill down her spine.A Devastating Development
With the strangling of supplies, the deaths began to increase. Beginning with the weak and infirmed. Although she took great care of her mother, she could not provide enough supplies for her to weather their situation. With her contacts dwindling and access to essentials being restricted, Bryn’Dyr could only watch as her mother withered away. On a cold night and after a week of fighting off an infection, her mother passed. The injustices had been laid bare in front of Bryn’s eyes. All she had known was squalor and despair. What little hope she was able to bring to her community was torn away by those with greater power. It became clear in her mind that these powers were undeserved.A Rebellious Move
The following few years saw the trickle of supplies get cut even further. The only thing that was still readily available was information and she took it upon herself to gather as much as she could. Names, addresses, movements, actions and policy changes. By sharing this information with her trusted peers, she steadily built upon the discontent the outcasts had come to feel for their ‘betters’. A discontent that she would come to weaponise when the time was right. She had been tracking the actions of the agricultural guild for months and found that plans were being laid for them to launch their own coup against the city’s monarchy. Through correspondence she had been receiving, it was clear that the guild was not the altruistic group they made themselves out to be, but were instead, fuelled by a desire to reduce taxes for themselves. Bryn planned her uprising carefully and when a number of guards were recalled from their posts to help defend the royal class, she armed herself and her kin and made their move through the gateways that once kept them in exile. On the other side of the gates in the lower regions of the main city, they were met by friends, family and loved ones that had never forgotten their own below. All armed and ready to join with them.New Management
Her uprising caught the agricultural guild by surprise and in their weakened state, her forces stormed the upper levels with little bloodshed. The nobility of the city sat speechless as they witnessed a new ruling class move into the upper echelons. The first change made was the striking of “The Outcasting Proclamation”, condemning it for its oppressive nature. Closely followed by the formal creation of tablets that would dictate how the city of New Ang’Verd would be run. In the following years under her rule, she made many policies that caused upheaval to dwarven societal norms. The active inclusion of other races being the most notable, although these policies couldn’t extend to every race that walked the world, she dreamt of days where conflict could be completely abolished. This is a submission for my second Summer Camp - I hope you enjoy the world I am building!
She's a great character. I am sad about her mother though :(

Correcting injustice is a pretty good motivator!
