Nidwaldonians

Nidwaldonians are an ethnic group of people that originate from the Grand Duchy of Eichenwald. When that was absorbed into the Aldion Republic of Hochwald, a significant portion of Nidwaldonians fled to the Kingdom of Charmelac and from there to what is now the Grand Duchy of Khotam. Nowadays the Nidwaldonians could be divided into two groups: the original Nidwaldonians living in Aldion and those that were assimilated into the Grand Duchy of Khotam and the Khotami ethnic group. While the first groups commonly speaks only High Aldion as their native tongue, Nidwaldonians of the second group often additionally speak Khotam.       In spoilers below you will find details for character creation.

Ethnic Abilities - Nidwaldonians

When designing a character, a player chooses positive and negative ethnic abilities of equal value. Custom suggestions are possible upon approval by the GM. Mixed ethnicity abilities can be custom designed as well.
 
Since all characters are human, you are always Adaptable: Humans begin play with any Novice Edge of their choosing. They must meer its Requirements as usual.
 
Typical Nidwaldonian characteristics are:
Spirited (2): Nidwaldonians are a proud and persistent folk. They start with a d6 Spirit instead of a d4. This increases maximum Spirit to d12+1.
Waldlauf (2): The 'forest run' is a traditional event that many Nidwaldonians trained for. The event continues today in Sinisterra. You gain the Fleet-Footed edge, which increases your pace by 2 and your running die by one step (usually d6 to d8).
Researchers (1): Nidwaldonians have an academic heritage culture that continues today in Khotam. One specialization of the Science trait starts at d4.
Gun Nuts (1): The Nidwaldonians used to design the best early firearms. One specialization of the Shooting trait starts at d4.
Tough (1): Nidwaldonians are a tough breed. Toughness is increased by +1.
Summer Stroke (-1): Many Nidwaldonians still struggle to acclamatize to the Sinisterran heat. You suffer a -4 bonus to resist the negative effects of heat. Damage from heat sources add an extra 4 damage.
Racial Enemy (-1): The stories of Astunian oppression of the Khotami in the past, have made many Nidwaldonians develop a hatred for the Astunians. The Astunians are your Racial Enemy. You subtract 2 from Persuasion when dealing with them and may become hostile with little provocation.
Ranged Warriors (-1): Unlike their fellows the Khotami, Nidwaldonians are not trained in melee combat and defense. You suffer a -1 to your Parry.
Frail (-1): Nidwaldonians have a somewhat frail build on average. Reduce your toughness by 1.
Small (-1): Nidwaldonians were never the largest humans on the old continent. You reduce your size and toughness by 1.
