Khotami

Khotami are an ethnic group of people, mostly residing in the Grand Duchy of Khotam or the Winona Union. Nowadays the Khotami could be divided into two groups: the more traditional living Khotami and those that have adopted to the arrival and assimilation of the Nidwaldonians. While the first groups commonly speaks only Khotam as their native tongue, Khotami of the second group often additionally speak High Aldion.

Ethnic Abilities - Khotami

When designing a character, a player chooses positive and negative ethnic abilities of equal value. Custom suggestions are possible upon approval by the GM. Mixed ethnicity abilities can be custom designed as well.
 
Since all characters are human, you are always Adaptable: Humans begin play with any Novice Edge of their choosing. They must meer its Requirements as usual.
 
Typical Khotami characteristics are:
Agile (2): Khotami are an agile people used to traversing challenging forests and hilly plains. They start with a d6 Agility instead of a d4. This increases maximum Spirit to d12+1.
Quick Step (2): Khotami used to travel long distances through a large empire in as short a time as possible. You gain the Fleet-Footed edge, which increases your pace by 2 and your running die by one step (usually d6 to d8).
Researchers (1): Khotami have always been learned individuals. With the arrival of the Nidwaldonians many have become renowned scientists. One specialization of the Science trait starts at d4.
Gun Nuts (1): The Khotami were amongst the first civilizations to discover gunpowder and use it in hand-held weapons. One specialization of the Shooting trait starts at d4.
Dodger (1): A traditional Khotami warrior knows how to defend oneself in hand-to-hand combat. Your Parry is increased by +1.
Racial Enemy (-1/-2): The Khotami were amongst the first natives to come into contact with Aldion colonizers. While the Astunians took most of their lands, the Aubignyans are especially despised by the Khotami for destroying historical sites and monuments. Choose the Astunians and/or Aubignyans as your Racial Enemy (-1 point value per enemy). You subtract 2 from Persuasion when dealing with them and may become hostile with little provocation.
Under a Rock (-1): The traditionally living Khotami simply aren't as aware of 'what goes on in the world' as others. Common Knowledge is no longer a core skill and does not start at a d4.
Illiterate (-1): Traditionally living Khotami may not have learned how to read or write. You gain the Illiterate (minor) Hindrance. Though you may speak plenty of languages, you cannot read or write any of them.
Small (-1): Khotami are smaller than your average folk on the Sinisterra continent. You reduce your size and toughness by 1.
