Subjects
Morayans who lack title are either Free Subjects or Bonded Subjects, or Outlaws.
In theory, free and bonded status are mobile, with bondsfolk able to receive a writ of emancipation with a gift of a smallholding. In practice, all free subjects are Elves, Half-Elves, Humans, Dwarfs, Halflings or Gnomes, while bound subjects are usually Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Giant-Kin or Tieflings. Even the one sure escape from bond, membership in the clergy, is not truly open to all. Any subject of Moray is free to take orders with the temple, mendicant or militant orders, but most of the temple orders in particular operate some form of entrance restriction which is prejudiced against the bonded.
