Giant-Kin

The giant-kin are the least creations of the Giants who once dominated all of Boriya and the south of Erask. They survived the fall of the Orthnar, and have flourished beyond the Jotnar or the Giantings. Although often considered as a single group, there are actually several distinct subgroups of giant-kin, all considered the Adopted lineage of Tet, and sometimes known as the Dawnborn.  

Magnar

The magnar are giant-kin invested with elemental blessings, often linked to the orthen. They live in extended familial groups called prides, which range from small bands to massive, tribal-scale structures. A magnar pride tends to cultivate - through intermarriage with similar prides - a particular elemental affinity. While in part motivated by a form of exceptionalism, this practice also encourages marriage between prides, avoiding inbreeding and building connections. Magnar average around 7'6" and 300lbs, with exceptional individuals reaching 8' tall.   They are highly resistant to heat and cold, and as a result are almost hairless, with follicles only on the crown of their head. They typically wear their hair long in a topknot or short in a crest. Their skin and hair colour are usually linked to their affiliation, but with a wide range of tones to each colour.

  Most magnar still wear traditional tattoos announcing their affinity and pride.    

Modhnar

Modhnar are creatures of nature, invested with primal energies. They are somewhat smaller and slighter than the magnar, averaging 7' and 280lbs. They have thick hair, although little facial or body hair. Modhnar tribes are small, and often integrate completely with larger societies as a traditional minority. Their culture emphasises restraint and acceptance over violence and upheaval, although they are willing to defend what is theirs. By convention, male modhnar wear their hair in a mass of individual braids, while females favour a single, elaborate plait.   Modhnar prefer to live in forests, moors or heathland where they can hide, something that they are very good at, despite their size. Many modhnar tribes live in Primeval Wilderness. Like the magnar, they have a tradition of tattoos displaying their affinities, which in the case of modhnar relate to the natural world.
