Princess Mauricia Rainier

Princess Mauricia Aseria Rainier

Princess Mauricia Alseria Rainier the second, is the eldest child of the The Royal Family and one of the chancellors for the The Royal Court . A sharp-minded and educated noblewoman raised on diplomacy, law, and theory. She believes herself the most capable ruler in the family and resents being sidelined by King Halric Rainier for the throne.   Since childhood she believed she was the favoured child of her father King Halric Rainier who personally oversaw to much of her education. From a young age Mauricia was trained to know everything about the kingdom from learning the manners and customs befitting a lady in waiting to corresponding to political emissaries she was praised for being clever at every turn. But As she grew older she found her father withdrawing and growing cold. She was sent to attend the College of Wintrow where she furthered her political education for several years and returned to the court to find that many treated her as irrelevant in favor of Avrid as if she had been forgotten.   Publically she serves Avid as his chancellor but she seethes with jealousy watching him be frivolous and dismissive of his responsibilities. Mauricia believes competence equals entitlement to rule and that she is the most competent in every room she's ever been in. She's arrogant, brilliant, and politically astute, but this makes her difficult to engage with she often puts people down and refuses to listen to any arguement too 'emotional'. She feels like she needs to orchestrate everything like the weight of the kingdom is on her shoulders in everything but title. She struggles to delegate and to to trust anyone in her life, even her closest associates, and when she does even when her plans are sound her tone and mannerisms alienate them. She ofter underestimates the needs of the people, choosing order and reason over empathy, she might manage the food of the city ensuring the people have accesss to it but sshe wont spare a thought for the variety or nutrition of the food until it becomes an issue.   She looks down on both Lydia, Sloan and their betrothal as frivolous and damaging to the crown's reputation as Sloan is a commoner by birth their marriage would bring no asset to the royal crown. She, like her father before her has become more and more concerned about the legacy with the crown, a concern that is only growing as King Avrid shows no desire to take a consort to preserve the family line. He also has not chosen an heir apparent for the event he is unfit to rule or dies, Mauricia understands that this would throw the kingdom into disarray during a disaster causing weak leadership and in-fighting in the Roble court. Because of this she recently attempted to engage Lord Corren Asheville for marriage as a way of attempting to preserve the family line and power. This was blocked by Avrid which incensed Mauricia, Lord Corren, his pride wounded has began a smear campaign against Avrid as he attempt to corral noblemen and commoner alike to his side.
