The Song-Knights

One song, unbroken, from the beginning into the twilight of years.

Structure

The organization is led by the Songlord, currently Servallis of House Auriadne. He is traditionally assisted by the Lord or Lady Conductor, currently one Lady Y'sana, and advised by the council of eight High Singers. Beneath them, the Singers are those whose voices are credited with contributing to the Song. They serve as coordinators and managers for the organization. Song-Knights are by far the largest rank within the hierarchy, numbering well over a thousand. Many members, however, are not especially active within the Order; it's not uncommon for younger sons and daughters of noble houses to be sent off to the Order to get a good education and a minor title before returning to their family lives, for the Song-Knights are the lowest rank granted titles within Ilfrindori society. The untitled ranks of the Order are known as Squires-- the Song-Weavers, Song-Keepers, Song-Seekers. The Weavers are few in number, a few dozen at most, and are those whose specialty is purely in academia-- research and treatises and endless debates. The Keepers, around 300 in number, are primarily responsible for the archives and collection at the Royal Auditoria in Caleska, serving as curators and archivists. The Seekers are the most adventurous sorts, no more than a hundred, who have chosen to wander the lands and seek out items of interest to the Order-- lore, spells, stories, tomes, and above all else, artifacts. Some of them are more academically-minded-- archaeologists and so forth-- but many delve into the more dangerous parts of Iandas as adventurers. Last, and least, the apprentices and initiates are the youngest members of the order, typically still in studies. They study and serve as staff in the museums, as well as assisting more senior members.

Public Agenda

To preserve and collect historical and magical information artifacts, and to maintain the Archives for the good of all.

Assets

The Order possesses many powerful artifacts, though most are in the vaults of the Royal Auditoria. However, their agents rarely lack for resources.

History

Founded roughly three thousand years ago with the founding of the Ilfrindori kingdom. Publicly, they exist as an honored society of historians, scholars, and mages who collect and study items of Elven heritage.
