Kobold
Kobolds are often found in small tribes - small reptilian humanoids, that have a pouch like marsupial. All Kobolds have a pouch, no matter their gender - thise without young offspring, collect random items in their porches.
Kobolds have darkvision and are particularly sensitive to bright light - hence being commonly found infesting dungeons and caverns. They make up for their physical ineptitude with a cleverness for trap making. They are easily aggravated to be aggressive, yet tend to be quite industrious.
They are distantly related to Dragons. There are soem Kobolds known as dragonwrought - they still show many signs that they descent from a specific colour of dragon ancestor - much like Dragonborn do. Other rare kobold are born with less desirable wings.
The dragon scale toughens our skin. The dragon bone adorns our skull. The dragon heart flames our sorcery. We are the dragon, and for the dragon we live. Long live the dragon.
~ A common kobold saying
Description
A reptilian humanoid standing under 3 feet tall with reddish brown scaled skin and burnt orange eyes. Some kobolds were also known to have black skin under their scales. They have two legs which appear sinewy and digitigrade - tending to walk on its long toes and not touching the ground with its heels. It has long, clawed fingers and a jaw like a crocodile. They weigh about 35 to 45 pounds (16–20 kilograms), with scaled skin of varying colors, and burnt orange to red eyes. Small white or tan horns protruded from their head, and they had rat-like tails.
All genders have a hard-to-spot pouch on their stomachs - like marsupials. It is like a pocket to any without young. They get all sorts of things placed inside - sometimes they have to be washed out "dirty, nasty pockets". Although the pouch can hold water, or other liquids, it sloshes around and will very slowly leak out through a kobold's skin and scales.
They would often smell of wet dog and stagnant water. Kobolds liked to wear certain colours - usually red or orange garments - which were usually ragged.
Food
Kobolds are omnivorous - eating plants and animals, but most will refuse to eat intelligent creatures unless forced to do so. They are able to eat just about anything when the situation becomes desperate - even tree bark or bone. Due to their cold-blooded nature, kobolds spend time in a warm place instead of eating - not needing to eat for days.Basic Information
Biological Traits
Shedding
Kobolds shed their skin periodically.A growing kobold might do this as frequently as once a fortnight - however a developed Kobold usually shed once per season. Unlike snakes, kobolds do not shed their entire skin at once - they instead shed portions of it over a period of time - much like lizards do.
The process is usually accelerated by rubbing. Certain creams are applied after shedding to help the new scales acquire strength, bright colour, and shine.
Pouch Cleaning
It was not until a person of another race watched in horror and surprise a Kobold clean out their pouch did anyone know the race had them.I watched their clawed fingers peel open their scales to reveal a front pouch, like a huge pocket. The clawed fingers dive in again and again to pull out random items. From a lockpick, a half eaten apple, a sling, some pebbles, a few grubs, a drawing of a trap design, some ants, numerous gems and dried mushrooms. Then it filled the pouch with clean-ish water and squished it around. Finally it did a headstand to empty the water out.
Genetics and Reproduction
Reproduction
A pregnant female lay her egg within two weeks.About one in ten pregnancies lead to two eggs. An egg needed incubation for around two months, even though newly hatched kobold can walk in just hours - they are like marsupial, so have all genders have a pouch that the young can sit in to go long distances, or while inside dusty mines.
The eggs are particularly sturdy, and the young inside can survive even if the egg broke as much as fifteen days early. The young Kobold mature quite quickly, having reached young adulthood in six years.
Some rare kobold children have wings. Others are dragonwrought, and still show signs of descent from a specific colour of draconic ancestor. It was possible to identify a dragonwrought egg because the shell would be speckled with flecks of the dragon's colour, which became more numerous throughout the incubation period.
While winged kobolds are often disparaged by ordinary kobolds - out of jealousy, as much as distrust. There is a ritual demands that any dragonwrought eggs be taken to a sacred hatching place, so that dragonwrought kobolds can be raised above ground - in case they are able to fly and need to learn to use their dragon like wings.

Beauty Ideals
The Kobold like to make their scales shimmer, using a scale oil.
Originally the scale oil was foul smelling oil simple known as Dragon Scale Oil created for caring for Dragons ' scales. Containing snail syrup, red coral powder, White Lilly root, and the Sacro. The Dragonborn reinvented the oil to suit themselves. The Kobold changed it too.
While Dragonborn added in incense powder mixed with black powder for the scent which covered some of the noisome nature of it, and it had the bonus of creating a new reaction to their scales. Which incense related to what colour scales a Dragonborn has.
Kobold, who do not mind if it still has the nasty odour, added in only crushed pearls for the shimmer effect.
NOTE
Afterwards the recipe changed to what is now known as the Sacro Elixir, by removing the incense and black powder, adding in the lemon verbena nicer flavour and for aiding to digestion. Although not all the unusual side-effects have been successfully ceased.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Kobolds can understand common, although do not tend to speak it. They instead speak a version of the Draconic language, with a yipping accent. Some can also speak Undercommon or Goblin.
Common Dress Code
Most kobolds are miners, therefore wore sleeveless tunics and breeches. Yet Kobolds also enjoy dressing in more elegant clothing for festivities. These included clothes made from silk, satin, or leather. Tailored clothes are typically only common among leaders.
Garments are often made to compliment the wearer's eyes - which involve the use of mostly orange or red dyes. Other garments might be dyed to demonstrate the wearer's affinity to a particular kind of dragon.
Kobolds require the dexterity in their feet so most do not wear footwear - the soles of their feet are hard enough to cope with most surfaces. Due to the amount of time kobolds spend mining, gemstones are readily available, and they use these to adorn their clothing, and to make pretty jewelry.
