Faewild

"There is a vibrant reflection of the Mortal Realm, a place of great beauty and horror. The inhabitants of this realm are much the same, charming in both appearance and words, but capable of so much harm." ~Church Paratir, Grand Archivist of the Authenian Archives.

Geography

The Faewild is geographically identical to the mortal realm, though the colouration is significantly more vivid and the vegetation is far more dense. This increase is especially visable in the areas of the Faewild owned by the Seelie Court.   The Faewild's echo of Theiáfi Canyon has no instability, due to the fact that no Titans were banished to Tartarus from the Faewild. No clouds of sulfuric gas or vicious drakes can be found, though the natural hotsprings remain.   The Invading Cloud is non-existent in the Faewild, and the waters of the Poseiatic Ocean are far clearer and deeper in colour. The Faewild's echo of Ithaca is home to the city of Breathaigí. Owned by the Unseelie Court and home to many fae sailors.   Grey-Antler Forest is not a bleak, cursed place in the Faewild like it is in the Mortal Plane. It is were the town of Cridhe Andòchais is situated. It is a small village of satyrs that primarily trades in lumber.   Stone Axe Mountain may be a rocky place in the Mortal Plane with very little plant life, but in the Faewild it is covered in thick woodlands.

Localized Phenomena

The parts of the Faewild under the control of the Seelie Court are extremely vibrant in colour and rather bright. And the area's owned by the Unseelie court are far more bleak and devoid of colour. The vegetation in the areas owned by the Seelie Court grows far quicker than the vegetation in areas owned by the Unseelie Court.   The Faewild can be swayed by the emotions of those who dwell within it, and the more influential they are, the more they can affect the Faewild with their mood. If a man goes camping while overcome with despair, he will wake up to find the grass around where he slept to be withered.   Time runs at a different rate in the Faewild than in the Mortal Realm. Spending months in the Faewild can make years pass in the mortal plane. There are plenty of tales of men venturing into the Faewild only to return home and find that decades have passed.

Fauna & Flora

Fauna
Many Satyrs have made their homes in the Faewild, often preferring the areas owned by the Seelie Court, due to the more appealing appearance and warmer climate.   One of the most common Fae to be found across the Faewild, the Gancanagh make up about one fifth of the population of both the Seelie and the Unseelie Courts. They are far more confident when dealing with mortals while in the Faewild, though their flirtatious nature does not vanish with the arrival of this confidence.   Faeries are the most common kind of Fae. They have glowing green eyes, pale white or light green skin and light brown, blonde or red hair. They are capable of flight, using magic to lift themselves off the ground. Many have a love for mischief, especially when the victims of their elaborate jokes are mortals. Despite their generally high intelligence, most have a rather childish sense of humour.   Kelpies can be found all across the Faewild, though they are especially present in areas owned by the Unseelie Court. They tend to locate themselves near lakes and violent rivers, waiting for anyone to trespass in their domain that is not a Fae.   The vast majority of Nymphs make their home in the mortal plane, though there are many who have found sanctuary in the Faewild. They are the rarest species of Fae to be found in the Faewild.
Flora
Blood Roses are a rare species of rose imbued with the chaotic energy radiating from the Faewild at all times. These roses can also be found in the Mortal Realm, near entryways to the Faewild. It is believed that pricking your finger on one of these roses means that your life now belongs to the Faerie Queen. There are many tales of people being killed by the Faerie Queen for trying to pick Blood Roses, and some stories of mortals being forced into her servitude for daring to pick one of her roses.   Ghermain trees are the most common type of tree that can be found in the Faewild. They have thick trunks, arrowtip shaped leaves with an emerald green colour and a very sweet sap.   Sapphire Lotus plants grow in the ponds of the center of the Faewild. Consuming a lotus plant can give you an incredible sense of euphoria and contentment. They are a favourite food of many Fae, and even some more well travelled mortals.

History

"From the union of Gaia and Uranos, the Mortal Realm came to be, creating our world, full of every single natural wonder. But not every single aspect of nature could be contained within the mortal realm, particularly the more powerful nature spirits. And so they chose to make a world from the Faewild, an echo of the creation of the Mortal Realm." ~Balen Flowers, Overseer of the Northern AAC.
Ever since there was the Faewild, the Fae spirits within it have been divided into two different factions, the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. The two courts fought many times, but immortal spirits are fearful of death, and so each war has stopped before their could be any mass deaths on either side. As of now, the Seelie Court currently holds the majority of the land in the Faewild.   For over a thousand years, the Seelie Court has been ruled by the Faerie Queen, a being of incredible power, more akin to the power of an ancient dragon or a lesser god than to a common fae. And for the past eight hundred years, the Unseelie Court has been ruled by the Lord of Thorns, a cunning Archfae who hoards magical items and makes deals with as many beings as possible, be they mortals of considerable use, or Daemons from which he can draw arcane power from.
