The Ages of Elgis
The First Age: The Primal Age
In eons long past all that existed were the sky and the barren earth. Then shards that glowed like a star fell from the sky and scattered across the wasteland. From these shards -known as Divine Sparks- conceptual beings known as Primordials rose from the dust, and with them came into existence the concepts they embodied. With the creation of the Primordial of life came the concept of life, and it transformed many inert objects into the first living things. Some of these new creatures gained sentience and agency, using them to rebel against their creators. These would become the @Prime gods. The Prime gods destroyed their creators, stole their Divine sparks, and buried their still-conscious remains deep beneath the earth. The Second Age: The Age of Apotheosis
The Prime gods began to experiment with their world, building Elgis and its creatures in the process. Their first creations were the Dragon Gods, to whom they gifted the subsparks of magic. Over millions of years, an Elgis rich in unique and terrifying flora and fauna took shape. However, the Prime gods realized that their mere presence was beginning to unravel their creations, some aspect of the primordial world clinging to them. They secluded themselves in the most distant and remote corners of the world, where their unintentional destruction would not harm their creations. Soon after, the Prime gods utilized their Divine sparks to leave the face of Elgis and Ascend. They left their work to the New gods. The Third Age: The Ending Age
The New gods split the land and the seas amongst themselves, each ruling over their own territory. Peace settled over the land, and the humanoids flourished beneath the feet of the gods, experiencing a golden age unrivaled. Whole civilizations rose and fell in this span of time, but it came to an end when the vices instilled in the New gods boiled over into a great war. Divine corpses crashed through mountains, flames consumed civilizations, and tsunami's crested over highlands in the skirmish. With each dead god came a wave of devastation that left the world burning and lifeless. This cataclysm would come to be known as The Andier, or "the end". Once the flames died and the bodies of the gods cooled whatever life had managed to survive under the ruins of humanity's golden age emerged into a desolate world. The Fourth Age: The Age of Man
The survivors grouped together amongst the wasteland, forming small nomadic bands. A man known as Voun Mountainbreaker began to subjugate the nomadic peoples with his overwhelming earth magic, forming the first post-Andier city, known as Ardetus. In response to this assimilating force, two opposing factions formed: the Elvish Coalition and Mavanish Empire . Many years of war between the three factions ended once the Elvish Coalition was shattered by a simultaneous attack from the two; the remains of which fled into the great forests in the West. The remaining factions settled into a tense peace as they each came to hold half the map. The Voun Mountainbreaker confronted Scrios, the Cosancoga Demon, and was slain in the process. His sudden death emboldened parts of both empires to succeed and form The Conjoined Kingdom . Both empires crashed down on the new territory, stripping the fledgling country of most of its territory, though it clung to the Whitepath River.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
